    The rivalry is back on

I like Mahomes a lot and he certainly has the potential, but so much can break the wrong way in the next 15 years to even be able to say that he (or anybody) is “on track” to be a generational great this early in his career

Brady also only (only is not the right word here) had 3 Super Bowl wins for like 15 years but seemed to somehow actually hit his peak in his late 30s and won 3 more at the end of his career. Mahomes is probably going to have to pile them up early, Brady’s peak play in his late 30s up until he was 40-41 is probably the hardest part of his career to duplicate.

Mahomes wont be Brady simply because Reid cant be BB and Mahomes wont take like $25m/yr to help the team

  4. I’ll be 100% honest that I don’t know enough about him to say for certain but I feel like I could see him taking some type of discount in order to help his chances at more rings.

I mean sure but on that same line of logic Mahomes in his 20s is legitimately a LOT better than Brady was in his 20s. Some people will dispute this just on principle, but even though he won some SB’s early, he wasn’t an elite QB until 29/30. The 2002 and 2004 superbowls were won with elite defense, the Pats had (without checking) 4-5 All-Pro players on the defense alone. I think 2005 vs the Eagles was the first year you could say they won partially because they had a very good QB, and he still didn’t reach Manning’s level until he got Moss in 2007.

Brady won that many because of BB. Who is the next closest 2000-era BB? Harbaugh?

Yung Shanny if he had an actual great QB.

Jeaux Brady in 2021 when he drafts Trevor Lawrence for the Jaguars? ;)

Im just saying it took Brady like a decade to become the best QB in the NFL. Mahomes is already #1 if you ask me, the torch has been passed now that all the former elite QBs are like 40 and finally declining

  10. I just wanted to say good discussion to everyone and sorry for hi jacking the thread with GOAT talk. Obviously it’s a big issue in NE with Brady-watch 2020 happening. Thanks for indulging me haha!

Do you remember the Panthers super bowl? Brady was great. Turned into a bit of a shootout. Delhomme torched the patriots defense. They both threw for over 300 and 3tds. The only Super Bowl in those early years where he was kind of along for the ride is the first Rams super bowl.

    Trusted

Pat Mahomes wins a Superbowl for every 31 regular season games played.

Tom Brady wins a Superbowl for every 48 regular season games played.

    You do the math.

Don't @ me unless you want to get destroyed by facts and logic.

Unless Mahomes suffers some kind of devastating injury, he is going to smash Brady’s stat records. Super Bowls is another story.

He also more than likely has Lamar* to compete with to get to those Super Bowls, similar to Manning always having to play Brady. Plus Reid has to stick around. Will be fun

See people think Brady has records but he actually doesn’t haha

Highest season completion Percentage was Brees in 2018 with 74.4% (god damn)

Highest career percentage is Pennington who had damn near 70%

Most yards and most completions are both Brees as well

Manning holds the highest single season numbers still, and ALSO had a second year (2004) that was pretty much as good statistically as Brady’s 2007

Brady does have the record for most wins but that’s not an individual stat

Not trying to downplay him, but he’s not as untouchable as we act like he is. We love to say Rodgers, Brees, Manning are a tier below him cause they “didn’t win when it mattered” but tbh give ANY of those guys Bill Belicheck and they would have won at least 4 of those 6 Super Bowls, at least.

Brady is the GOAT. Rodgers was the most talented, now its Wilson. Might eventually be Mahomes

My main thing in this whole discussion is I don’t agree nearly as much that “winning more = you’re clearly better as an individual.” Way too many factors go into it. You can’t be clutch if your coaches don’t even put you in that position.

Which, maybe I blame Manning cause he called most if not all his own plays every game. He definitely thought too highly of himself there, he possibly could’ve gone to the SB more times if he didn’t think he could outscheme Belicheck / Steelers elite defenses while playing in the game and betting on himself to make all those plays.

But I don’t blame Brees for Payton’s overaggression and impatience. Nor do I blame Rodgers for McCarthy’s linear, predictable game flow.

It should actually be iterated that coaching adjustments are arguably more important to comebacks and wins than QB performance

Brees played in a dome with a better offensive head coach. The thing about Brady’s stats is he’s like 2nd or 3rd in all kinds of categories with some of the best individual seasons ever. And he blows everyone away if you include post season. BB is obviously great but he’s never been known for offense and as a head coach without Brady he’s won nothing. You can’t just assume you plug someone else in and they win 4 Super Bowls let alone go to 9.

Brady is the GOAT quarterback and Belichick is the GOAT head coach. They found each other early in their careers and developed together. Perfect situation.
