Yeah, though Dak's cap number likely wont go down much. Wilsons is $27mil on his deal, etc. Especially since it isnt being tagged onto a previous deal as an extension.

Coopers could go down a decent amount though

Yeah, this is what I’m hoping he does. And as far as Cooper, he’ll be expensive but we can’t afford to lose him and every interview I’ve read with him shows he wants to stay here for his career, “let the agents and team figure it out” nonchalant attitude, etc...

I assume the league was always going to reinstate him after the season. Since the suspensions are just about optics and PR anyway, it was a way to make it sound more severe. It’s worse for PR to add an extra game at the beginning of the season because it gives life to a story they want dead and buried lol

I don’t think Dak is waiting for Mahomes to sign. Pretty sure the Cowboys offered him a contract towards the beginning of the season that would have made him a top five paid QB and he turned it down. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Cowboys tried lowering their offer more recently with how the rest of Dak’s season went and the standstill between the two of them has obviously gotten worse over time. I fully expect him to sign there though, whether it’s on a new deal or the franchise tag

Yeah, from what I’ve read is they offered him roughly the Goff and Wentz level contract and he basically bet on himself and won after having a great season.

The rumor is now not that the amount is bad, supposedly $37 million, but that he wants it to be a shorter contract so he can do another extension soon after the new CBA is signed. That makes sense to me.

At least you haven’t gone literally 20 years without a promising quarterback. Haha. The anticipation is insane.

It’s not that I think Minshew is gonna be elite or anything but I am just not used to watching the Jags pass the ball around like that. It’s exciting. It’s like wow, maybe we might be a normal fuckin team next year and not have rely on unreasonably good defense & RB performance (or else just sucking and having boring games all season.)

Dak shouldn’t sign for anything less than #1 overall qb money. Just because the market is crazy doesn’t mean it’s his job to fix it lol

Eh, that ship has sailed. 4/140 is the best you get him for (unless he wants 3/105 for a shorter deal). He's got all the leverage now...especially since his 2019 year was statistically better than the highest paid QB.

His worst case scenario for 2020 is $33mil. His worst case for 2021 is ~$40mil. The only other move the Cowboys can make is let a clear franchise QB walk at age 26/27. Only real question is if he wants his deal fully guaranteed at 3 years, or if he wants a massive lump sum up front (think like 3/105/80mil guaranteed with like $60mil being a signing bonus).

Lamar Miller was on IR and is gone this year how do we have regrets over the contract if we're already done with it

The Texans had a ton of space last offseason despite Lamar Miller's contract, it's not like we missed out on paying people due to the contract, the office just chose not to cuz they suck

As I look into this further I do remember that the year we signed Lamar Miller, we let Brandon Brooks go, so I take it back the Texans did make a stupid decision. However I do think Brooks was gonna be gone no matter what given how he's talked about the Texans since so maybe not. Really we should've drafted Kenyan Drake or Jordan Howard and tried to keep Brooks but all in all signing Lamar Miller was not the worst thing we could've done.

We could've paired him with a terrible Brock Osweiler contract

Okay yeah I'd agree with that then, in terms of 2019 alone and how it looks from 2019 on it's not TOO bad, but throughout the life of the contract yeah I'd obviously have to agree, would be stupid not to
