Personally I wonder that every single day of my life

 

I wonder when I'm going to ever have my shit together enough to do actual parenting

I feel like I want a child eventually but I'm almost 30 and still haven't figured out gainful employment or lasting relationships. Let alone I've never comfortably afforded rent until now, much less had the credit post-student loans to consider buying.

So really I only need to figure those 4 HUGE things out over the next... hopefully 4-5 years and then I'll be good lol

 

I will never have kids. I decided that many years ago and went through the process needed to make sure that it was a 99% impossibility. I’m too selfish and immature to be responsible for another person.

 

If you wait until everything in your life is perfect to have a kid, you will miss your chance. Obviously you need to have some things figured out but your life will never be in a position for you to say it's the perfect time to have a kid.

 

Kids sounds terrible. Especially right now. Thankfully never dated anyone that wants kids. Only dated one person that can even HAVE kids.

Dont you have a wife, career, and house in a reasonably affordable area with good schools?

 

I mean yeah but definitely want it to be with the right person, and definitely want to have a really good job so that I can save for their futures and any emergencies (+holy fuck child care is expensive.). Having a child before you have either of those things is hard as shit and, looking around me I feel like it's almost a blessing in disguise that I've never gone that far with the wrong person or before I was financially stable.

If I do the dad thing I'm gonna do it fucking right.

 

I see, however, that people with their hearts in the right place do whatever it takes to get to a point of stability for their children. So I'm not doubting that I would get ready real fucking fast if I actually did end up having a kid before I was prepared. Terrain / playing music would be put to rest.

Kids sounds terrible but I'm actually good with them and I know I would melt if a person I loved got pregnant haha. Just sort of accepting that even though I'm not there yet, one day I will be.

 

I always read that as the number “50” and just move on with my life. As the dads do.

 

when I say I'm good with kids I mean like 4+ year olds. I have no idea what to do with a toddler or a baby hahahaha

 

I could foster/adopt later on maybe if established. Gonna go ahead and pass on passing on my bullshit though. Especially with my current human. God that poor child.
