We've been binging the Wire for the first time and while it doesn't really hold up, it's really good

  2. I’ve never seen The Sopranos or The Wire and I feel like I should watch both but I have too many other shows on my list. Plus, I keep rewatching Curb. It’s too good.

The Wire is a heavy contender for GOAT the medium has ever seen

I don’t think I’ve ever done a rewatch of a tv show, there’s too much other shit out there that I want to watch

  5. I think I’m in the minority that thinks Ozark is overrated. I mean, it’s good and all. But it’s way overhyped. Literally every scene features some long monologue by one of the characters that tells some wild and/or tragic story from their past that helped them learn a lesson or whatever. It’s just overboard. People don’t really talk like that to each other lol

Season 2 of Justified is some pristine tv.

Man, Rectify is a show I should watch again. I watched Season 1 and loved it and then it fell off my radar.

I watched Rectify for a second time recently. It’s incredible.

God, watching that scene alone even with no context is heartbreaking.

I honestly can’t even remember the last new show that I started / watched. I tend to just rewatch the same 5-10 shows/movies over and over again lol

  11. Season 4 of Mr Robot was up there for me. It was perfectly done.

I’ve never watched most these shows that people are crazy about

I think a lot of dramas have been victims of the success of Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones where the studios all pile into a bunch of copycats.

Some of the most interesting tv is happening in the half-hour comedy format. Atlanta and Bojack Horseman are doing some fantastic and unique stuff that’s on par with any of the best dramas.

Atlanta and Bojack are two of the only shows I was still watching. Bojack just ended, and it might be the best of its era.

If anyone needs an underrated comedy to watch during bagel-times, Kim’s Convenience on Netflix is pretty great.

Ive never been one to watch a super hyped show during its actual run. Lost, Breaking Bad, Parks and Rec, The Office, 30 Rock are all shows I watched after they wrapped up. This way I can determine if its good or not on my own time. Saul is the exception though its not as hyped as the others and I like that. I have never seen an episode of Game of Thrones. I know I'll eventually watch it one day.

  19. Game of Thrones is a show I watched and never understood the hype. I kept going because everyone loved it so much. But never got too attached to any of the storylines.

I have ADHD so sitting and staring at something that doesn’t require any actual input or engagement is a tough sell for me. Sports are different because I get amped up and respond to what’s happening haha, and its pure suspense rather than planned / fabricated suspense.

I get around to like 1/10 shows that are recommended to me 2 years after they are over; usually only if someone else is watching with me; and that’s good enough for me haha.

If I want to know what people are talking about I usually just read the synopsis / spoilers, because I don’t care beyond the point of being barely culturally relevant in conversations haha. Like I just read the Wikipedia page for Tiger King cause I don’t care to watch it at all.

Breaking bad was fantastic. Arrested Development is fantastic. Those are two of my faves.

I definitely default to listening to music & surfing the Internet much more often than watching TV or movies

It was good for several seasons... but by the time the WhiteWalker wars were happening the plot was littered with deus ex machina and untethered loose ends. I completely lost interest in season 5 and never watched season 6 because everyone said it was disappointing

Tend to hate it when the TV studio starts making the plot ridiculous because they ran out of ideas but still want to cash in. I don’t finish a lot of shows for this reason. I never watched the second half of the Office, stopped that around season 5 as well.

  23. I agree with this except I don’t think GoT “cashed in”. I thought they bailed lol

The story moved so slow for so long and then all of the sudden they’re “ok we’re done with this show let’s wrap it up”. And everything was rushed to its conclusion. I wasted so much time binging that show and then the ending was just so poorly done. I’m not even mad at the actual outcome (like who become king and who did this and that or whatever). It’s just the way we got there in the final season.

Yeah they really went too far with the extra storylines, I never finished it but I can’t imagine they wrapped it all up neatly in one season.

Why can’t writers figure out how the show is gonna end before they release it lol? Wouldn’t that make it much easier to wrap it in a bow at the end than writing episodes / seasons open ended? I feel like that sort of planning is crucial in books and movies, so why are they so haphazard about ending TV shows??

Especially if it’s based off a book, going in all these different directions and not planning how you’re gonna tie it together with the original story, just seems asinine to me.

I binged Tiger King last night, that Carol Baskin, man.
