And I’ve never once suggested that Minshew will regress. I’ve only been saying the keeping things status quo on the offensive side of the ball is a good way to finish 5-11 at best. Like, Minshew can play just as well as he did last year and the Jags could still pick in the top five. That’s it. That’s all I was saying.

It’s fine. I get defensive about the Jaguars all the time because I hate that we’ve been a dysfunctional joke for so long no one ever gives us benefit of the doubt. I wish my team was that team people “believed in” when we got good young players.

Look, I obviously realize they could do worse this year but I don’t like to talk about that possibility as much as the possibility of Minshew being the real thing.

Both are possible but I’m a fan who has watched every Minshew snap so im clearly gonna lean towards the latter based on what I saw. Me not really focusing on the alternative doesn’t mean I think your point is invalid. It just means I’ll personally continue to believe Minshew can win us games we shouldn’t win until proven otherwise.

I’m being kinda subjective here because it’s too early to say either way. Jags could have a bomb draft and either improve the offense a lot or shore up the defense enough to pick up where we left off. I didn’t like that I felt like y’all would not just let me be optimistic about this. Like, yeah the Jaguars fan believes Minshew can win some tough games. Just let me think that for now, it’s 6 months before the season.

 

If you were to go back and look, you wouldn't see a single post from me arguing about Minshew today. All I said was there was a possibility he could progress. You're the one who straw manned it into us telling you how to be a fan, and ordering you to believe he was gonna regress and all this weird stuff.

 

That was then followed by me multiple times telling you to stop doing that, and you continuing to argue with yourself and get mad at us for it.

 

I'm willing to let it go and focus on the far more important issue: Lindsay Lohan has announced her musical comeback.

 

Cause you acted like I was ignoring your point and I wasn’t. I was just disagreeing that that was the only factor, and trying to say regardless what talent we had, Minshew didn’t get help from the defense last year either. So from my view, it doesn’t *actually* change much even though those are huge changes on paper. On paper our previous defensive roster was great... but in reality they weren’t even average anymore.

That was my reasoning but you kept rejecting it.

I think Minshew can potentially elevate a bad team, you don’t. So obviously you’re gonna think the defensive players we lost matter more than I do. And I’m totally fine with that, but let me have my reasons why I think we can still do a little better despite losing quality veterans.

 

It's pretty easy to reject tbh. The defense wasnt very good but losing the top three players is going to make it worse.

I’m fine with this perspective being someone’s reason for us being a probable bottom 5 team. As long as I’m allowed to think differently because I think Minshew is better than he’s being given credit for.

It’s like. I’m a fan and Minshew had a great rookie season. Of COURSE I think we’ll do fine & steadily improve as long as we have him. Is it really a surprise to anyone that I think this? Most of them would have the same bias toward optimism if their teams were struggling but found a really promising QB.

Yes my team could ruin Minshew Or he could randomly decline and sputter like Mayfield did. But obviously I don’t want to think about that lol I want to think about the ways Minshew could help lift us out of this mess if his development stays positive. It could go either way, nothing is factual or proven yet, so as a fan I prefer to look at it in terms of, potential / experience.
