My whole thing was you just saying "lol no" to some pretty reasonable reasons why they may be worse this year as if it hasn't occurred to you that Minshew may not improve the way you expect.

You misunderstood me. I’m saying Fournette is a top notch pass protector compared to most RBs.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from Dave Caldwell, Doug Marrone, and Jay Gruden, it’s that they lead to positive seasons

I’m here to tell you Fournette’s pass blocking will mean very little when it comes to whether the Jags win more than five games or not

I mean the defense is starting over from scratch, yes I know this. But the offense gives me every reason to believe we can score more points than we did last year. Minshew could still regress & mess up more against different defensive looks, but nothing changed that would negatively affect him so I don’t see how that’s more than just conjecture

I think it means a lot because it has a lot to do with Minshew progressing haha

    ... that’s not a contradiction

That’s me saying it’s a possibility he could regress in spite of an ascending offense. To be fair to Dave instead of just saying that’s not possible. But there’s no additional evidence that suggests it WILL happen, it’s just something that happens sometimes to some second year QBs

What could possibly lead you to believe that this is an “ascending” offense?

Finally. I'm over his dumb holding and PI penalties. Also never forget:

The offense is simply going to be better just because Minshew is entering his second year. I forgot that’s how it works. Really worked out well for Baker in Cleveland last year

....our skill position players, linemen, and Minshew all being improvements over what was there before in 2018

Fournette having his best year also gives me hope he can be the guy we thought we were getting when we drafted him

But you have the exact same offense as you did in 2019. The only difference is Jay Gruden

I think the argument is pretty clear, which is that Chark + Fournette were solid in 2019, guys you comfortably call #1s at their position, and with Fournette flirting with the edges of top 5 in some categories. But, even if Minshew had played significantly better, that team is still what, 7-9? And thats handing them a win over a Brees-less Saints team?

Far too early to make declarations either way, because the draft is going to make a big impact, but off free agency, its hard to see them being much different than last year.

I’m not lol. Having an elite QB boosts your whole offense’s draft stock. Jamar Chase probably wouldn’t have emerged as an elite WR if he wasn’t playing on an offense that was so sophisticated with their execution. He got to experience football with NFL-level detail and become more refined and nuanced early into his career, which is not the same opportunity most college WRs get.

Exactly - hard to see them being much different

They’ll be bad but not bad enough to pick top 5. Just like this year.

Jags might actually go 0-8 on the road this year.

They were 1 win off a top 5 pick omg

Chase isn't even the best WR coming out next year.

Also for the record we could’ve at least went to overtime with Houston in week 2... but Marrone ran it up the middle for a 2 point conversion lmao

So that’s the win you’d be “giving us” if we had improved second year Minshew instead

Yeah he gave it to your boy Lenny who had an awesome year, right?

since you are the resident Bengals fan, how would you feel if Cincy ends up trading out of #1? Lets say Miami offers all 3 of their firsts
