This. Yannick gave us a lot of time and patience to resign him properly, even after the Ramsey shit went down. He even cancelled his hold out and instead gave us his all last year. He would’ve stayed if our offer showed him some respect.

Fuck Dave Caldwell. I hate drafting good players and not resigning them even more than I hate just drafting poorly tbh. And the Jags have done both of those things under Caldwell.

I don’t see any way we’ll go .500 or better though. I’m mostly watching this year to develop an opinion for which direction to take our offense. Regardless of the playoffs being practically impossible, this is a big year for Minshew & Fournette. If either of them disappoints it’s probably time to blow up our offense too.

 

Jags would be stupid to give him up for less than one first though

Yannick knows his talent affords him leverage. It’s stupid to try to get a hometown discount out of him, when his time in Jax has only shown him that he should be demanding MORE money.... to stay with a clearly dysfunctional franchise in a small market / sad town.

Much like ARob, he’d probably be happier in a better city & with a better organization, even if it means less pay.

 

The man is only 24 and has what, 15-16 forced fumbles already in his career? And after Garrett and Bosa he’s arguably the third best young DE in the league - his per game production is definitively higher than DeMarcus Lawrence who got $21M AAV.

We shouldn’t have been afraid to overpay a game changer like that.

I think the Jags are seriously in play for a top three pick in the 2021 draft. I’ll be stunned if they win more than five games. I mean, they went 5-11 this past season and their roster has gotten worse.

 

I disagree. But I’ll happily draft Jamar Chase if that happens lol.

Their defense has gotten worse but it was already atrocious last year. The offense has stayed together though and probably improved if anything. DJ Chark, Jawaan Taylor and Gardner Minshew all looked like promising, ascending young players last year who will hopefully keep trending up & Fournette finally got right for a full 16 games.

When is Fournette’s extension gonna happen? I’m so excited.

 

I mean, we aren’t getting Trevor Lawrence unless we are pick 1, and we aren’t getting Justin Fields unless we are pick 2. Let’s be realistic here.
