If I'm Howie you absolutely must try to make a deal for Cooks, but at the right price. You do that, you still draft a reciever but not necessarily in the first round.

 

I'm all for it, but, like you said, for the right price. If I'm Howie, the highest I'm going is the Eagles' third round comp pick and maybe a player like Rasul Douglas. No way I'm trading a premium draft pick for a guy with that high of salary and his concerning concussion history.

I think Cooks is a much better and more versatile receiver than Jeffery. I'm not concerned about Cooks' statistical season last year when the Rams pass blocking was utter trash and they kept sending him deep down the field on plays. You're barely gonna connect with Cooks if you're not protecting Goff long enough to do it

Versatility is the last word I'd use to describe Brandin Cooks. Maybe more versatile than Alshon Jeffery but if he's still not versatile at all, nah I don't see the point. I think that'd be a bad move for your franchise and y'all can do better than Cooks. No reason to settle

 

They currently have the fifth-most cap space remaining at around $28m.

They would be in big trouble next year though as far as cap space goes so they would either have to rework Cooks' deal or move on from some veterans.

 

I think Cooks can be used deep, but also on shorter routes like slants and be used on jet sweeps like Doug loved to do with Agholor. I think Doug would find ways to get creative with him. But, ultimately, I think you're right. The Eagles shouldn't settle for Cooks and I think they can do better. Unfortunately, the Eagles don't have many options so that's why my mind is considering Cooks more seriously now. Seems like plan A is running it back with last year's receiver corps and hoping everyone stays healthy (lmao) but adding another rookie to the mix this time.
