In my defense I could see it being a thing where someone gets a ridiculous $50 drink at a nice restaurant

On my honeymoon I had a really expensive scotch with dinner one night, I do not for the life of me remember how much it was but it was very good, not sure if it was worth the cost though, probably not

  5. Yes.

It's the other end of the spectrum. Everyone arguing over the best $10 shitty burger or sandwich.

It’s an indirect effect. Tighter operations = the product is better maintained because they’re keeping their stock on a more predictable routine.

It’s harder to have tight ordering / operations the more busy you are & the more people you’re trying to serve in a short period.

Consider this: small business restaurants often taste a lot fresher than chains.

    50???

Damn. Either an aged ribeye, more than a pound of king crab legs, or a low country boil for two (Which is cheating cause you split with another person.)

I would get a lot of things for 30 but almost nothing for 50. That’s maybe once a year for me to spend that much on a single entree, and that’s like with family for a special occasion.

If I'm going to a nice restaurant like what spiffa is describing idk if they'd have a low country boil

But if they would then that's definitely my pick

  9. I wouldn't necessarily spend it either. But when I've travelled for work I have indulged.

But I'd probably get swordfish or whatever the chef is preparing special for that day.

I'll drop 50 on a meal without hesitation

I don't spend money on drinks, I barely pay for gas, I'ma treat myself to food if I can

    See for me:

I’m kind of an expensive drinker cause I don’t usually drink to get drunk, it’s more so for the flavor & maybe a nice buzz. So if I got 50 to spend I’m getting that $11 cocktail, that $31 meal, and that $8 side or appetizer because I like variety.

That's fair. In general I just drop money for an entree but in some places it's different. Like at the place we went to, I liked getting multiple things. There's a Japanese restaurant in Dallas that I always get like 5 different small plates at too instead of getting 1 expensive entree. It just varies

I also offset that by literally never ordering soft drinks at restaurants. Maybe like 3% of the time I’ll get sweet tea. It’s either water and a schnazzy drink, or just water usually. When I eat out for lunch I never drink anything but water.

I will get beer at a grill / sports bar and I will get tomato juice and/or coffee at brunch though.

To be fair, the South is a Hoagie desert

Like, my favorite cheesesteak outside of Philly is at Jerry’s subs. Do you know how sad that is? Cheesesteaks are fucking stupid anywhere you go.

Three Brothers has a 10/10 cheesesteak and fries. Literally my favorite French fries ever too.

@dorfmac @Fuego @GraveDigger yall are the ones in Maryland right? And then @preppyak in northern VA?

What are y’all favorite underrated spots in the DC area?

For greasy food Three Brothers is up there for me. That Cheesesteak is $7.99, onions peppers & mushrooms are free, double meat & cheese is $2, and you can get an enormous tray of fries that fills up multiple people for $3.99.

I also think there is a Peruvian Chicken place in Wheaton that I always used to hit before going to Chuck Levin’s for music gear, that place has the best chicken I’ve had in my life. EDIT: lol it’s called Super Chicken.

I loved Subway for awhile and then hated it for awhile and now just see it as what it is. A less unhealthy option when you are just emptily hungry and not trying to spend money.

It’s not great but imo the problem is their ingredients are not good quality for toasted subs. Subway is better if you keep the sandwich cold. They introduced toasting to keep up with Quizno’s back in the day but they suck at it and once I stopped toasting my subs I started liking them more.

That said I’d probably never get Subway ever if I had a professional salary. I only get it because I don’t make the kind of money where I can always buy a $12 sandwich that’s smaller than a $6 sub and it not matter haha. I get broke sometimes and gotta ration those $12 meals out. When I barely have spending money sometimes saving $6 tastes better, and not having horrible digestive problems is better than most $6 options haha.
