But also, some of those players wouldnt accept those extensions/cap moves because of how it might lock them into team control. Its a REAL mess. And all of those push money into 2022, which I think they'd be over the cap with ~30 players if they did all this. So, 2022 is maybe even worse because you've restructured yourself into hell.

Thats a team that needs to trade those 3 guys on 5th year options for draft capital and hit the reset button HARD.

You'd be surprised; everyone in the freelance game has such a little niche carved out that its not really competitive in that way. I do all education/history stuff, so maybe only NatGeo would even overlap, but I dont know anyone over there anyway.

    Its all word of mouth/networking

I think realistically Terron Armstead is gone and Ryan Ramczyk stays but they might suck at LT if they don’t find a way to parlay Armstead into a draft pick for another tackle

I can see them trading Armstead since the cap saving difference isnt too massive (only $6mil in a trade versus like $9mil in an extension), but, yeah, they have some brutal choices coming.

Honestly, they either need to pay someone a draft pick to take Tayson Hill or go all in on him as the starter. He's a nightmare cap hit otherwise (between him and Brees they'll have $30mil tied up in NOT having a starting QB)

I think they are rolling with Hill at QB. I'd be shocked if they don't roll with Hill or draft someone.

Keep Hill and hire Tebow as QB coach since he has experience being a bad TE pretending to be an even worse QB

I just hate that for them lol.

trade Hill and a 2nd round pick to Jax for Gardner Minshew (yes I’m still on my bullshit lol). We’ll eat that cap hit. I think he’s a much better backup for Urban Meyer & Trevor Lawrence than a starter for Sean Payton & New Orleans.

/not remotely realistic for either team

I like the Rams and would like to see them win a SB.

Gotta make it through the Jets next year though, so good luck!

    welp looks like:

    1) we are drafting Freiermuth in the second round
    2) we really are gonna be another version of the offense Russell Wilson learned in. And I can’t decide if that’s good or terrible for Trevor Lawrence lol

It probably is a good thing for developing his progressions, but we better pay more attention to the O line than they did in Seattle. Lawrence is mobile but he’s not anywhere near Wilson with the elusiveness. I will say though, Darrell Bevell and Brian Schottenheimer do know how to run the ball and that’s a plus.

Freiermuth is dope, I'm good with that.

Obvious Hypothetical: i wonder what Randall would be saying if the Jags traded for Stafford after the AFCCG. Would he be happy then at “buying” Stafford and a chance at a ring?

Depending on the product and company you may be able to find old PDF price books or ads that were in papers? That’s how I’ve sometimes found stuff and there are weird Twitter accounts / Reddit pages devoted to that kind of history.

    The rivalry is back on

I did not at all like Schotty’s work as Georgia OC but he seemed to do a fine enough job as the Colts’ QB coach with Luck (again it’s really hard to tell as a fan how good of a job non-coordinators/play-callers are doing and it’s probably been since Mora that the Colts have had a head coach who would even consider speaking ill of his assistants and that’s the main way you’d know). He seems like one of those guys who thrives most being a teacher but not necessarily a playcaller, which works well for y’all.

Tbh... Urban Meyer wasn't joking when he said his first goal was to hire the best staff possible. I may have been bullish about Eberlus / Smith over Meyer but I'm seeing that it's not just Meyer, he brings a whole network of great football-savvy connections with him. I'm actually pretty damn excited to see so many lower level coaches get hired that I actually like and recognize.

It's not as though the pool of available coaches is FULL of guys who are this accomplished... simply the fact that it was Meyer making the phone calls, meant we really did get top tier options (in terms of, guys actually on the market) in every one of these categories:

OC - Darrell Bevell (coached Favre, Wilson, Stafford, AP, Marshawn Lynch, was doing well with Kerryon till he started getting hurt)

pass game coordinator - Brian Schottenheimer (QB coach who's worked with Brees, Chad Pennington, recent / elite Russell Wilson, and... shitty Jets-version of Brett Favre lol. Has also made shitty QBs like Austin Davis, Shaun Hill, and Mark Sanchez usable despite the GM clearly fucking up the QB position.)

TE coach - Tyler Bowen (Just coached Pat Freiermuth, the one TE in this draft class who's very good at both catching AND blocking - the results were instant, with Freiermuth having the second most TD in the country as a *freshman*)

DC - Joe Cullen (has literally done well with the D line everywhere he went, including helping turn the Browns D around in 2013 and then doing the same with Tampa Bay in 2014 before getting experience under Wink Martindale)

LB coach / defensive analyst - Charlie Strong (one of the more respected defensive coaches in the NCAA, including Alabama this past season and being the assistant head coach for Meyer's championship runs. He was top 5 in many categories at FL, and never ranked outside the top 25 in yards allowed with much less well-recruited Louisville. Maybe didn't succeed offensively as a head coach but I love that he's back working with Meyer who he's been most successful with.)

DL coach - Tosh Lupoi (did well with Myles Garrett and then not so well with the Falcons' shitty D line, but i'm encouraged by his long stint as a defensive analyst for Alabama.)

DB coach - Chris Ash (almost overnight turned the Longhorns from a terrible defense to a very good one and started producing NFL talent. I just read an article that credits him with catapulting the draft stock of Joseph Osssai and Demarvion Overshown by shifting them to much more fitting positions. Meyer called him "the top coordinator hire available in college football."

  20. Lol I made up an equation that could guesstimate the prices based on inflation.

My fiancé’s birthday is Thursday so I set it up so we have an entire episode of The Price is Right in our apartment. I made a big wheel, I have 4 games planned. One of which is called now and then which needed the older prices haha

    This feels so openly irresponsible

“It’s going to be difficult to set the cap this year because we don’t know as many of the answers to those questions as we’d like. But that’ll be a collaborative process that happens with the union over the next two or three months..."

This time around, the decision could go down to the wire. Hunt said that the cap could be set only “hours before the start of the league year.”
