The Jets have a bottom tier roster. Trading away a bunch of picks isnt going to improve that. He's in the same situation in New York.

Yeah, as long as we're actually giving Howard the credit for being super valuable I'm cool with it.

But if they wanted two firsts this year, and a first next year, AND Tua, AND Howard I'd turn around.

Unless Miami throws in several really good young players like Howard, Gesicki, and Baker plus some picks, I don't see how any of these teams can outbid the Jets.

But like I said a few minutes ago, Watson could refuse to play there and that's certainly a possibility.

Okay but to be fair I don't see why the Jags get talked about as having a ton of options because of their picks / cap space but the Jets aren't.

The Jets have a good defense and could buy an offense. Hell, let Watson hand pick his FA WR.

    I need to know this:

Why do you hate the Jets so much?

It's not the same situation because the Jets have cap space and potentially a very good coach.

I think the question is not whether the jets can entice the texans to trade him there, they definitely can. The question is more of, how do the options dwindle if the niners can’t make a trade that the texans like. Do the next options just give their best offers and whichever one has the best wins?

I think that’s about par value for Watson personally. If he was traded for his actual value.

yeah if Houston said the only way Miami gets Watson is with

    3
    18
    2022 1st
    Tua
    X. Howard

then I think I have to walk away. Thats the equivalent of like 5 first round picks and maybe more

The Jets are! But trading away those assets and taking up a bunch of that cap space makes them less appealing

I think it’s more so he wants the Jets to draft Fields so he can laugh at you, and bonus points if Fields is good so he can post Jim-face

Matt is not a complicated guy :-p

Look I joke about Tua but he's worth at LEAST an extremely high 2nd or late first.

That's equivalent value of 5 firsts round picks. I'm just not entirely sure the jump from Tua to Watson is worth five first round picks.

    Nope. Supporter

Watson's cap hit for the team acquiring him is like fucking peanuts for a QB of his caliber lol

A lot of memeing around here but I bet the Jets make the playoffs within the next two years.

NFL owners are so almost universally scummy it’s hard to even rank them. Like I still have a hard time putting anyone above Dan Snyder.
But Kraft getting off (no pun intended) while the women face jail time is so infuriating and represents some of the worst of our so called justice system

I don't hate the Jets, I just don't understand why they're the one always getting talked about as the obvious trade destination when they're still, with or without Watson, the worst team in the division. Like, Miami becomes a contender, SF becomes a frontrunner, Carolina becomes a contender, etc...etc...

I wouldn’t blame the Dolphins for saying no but idk. Anything less than four first round picks is a lowball and calling that 5 is debatable.

I do too. And I think that because they're not getting Watson haha

I really just wanna see the Jets draft Zach Wilson.

still gonna say Penei Sewell would be a very interesting long term choice but I get that that’s not happening and I’m the only person who wants that lol

    1. It's New York. They've been bad for a decade (well, basically forever honestly) and they still get tons of press no matter what.

    2. If the Jets acquired Deshaun Watson, they'd compete for that division (or at least an AFC Wild Card spot) right away. The Bills and Dolphins have better overall rosters, but they'd still be very competitive right away. The Patriots* are done.

you could say this about so many bad teams though. DeShaun is just that good. And some of those teams play in a less difficult division.

DeShaun Watson would win the NFCS constantly in Carolina (or Atlanta???) once Brady hung it up.

Exactly, because he's that good and QB is that important.

Whoever gets him will improve drastically.

Yeah, the Jets would become competitive with Watson. But I still doubt they win the division more than once or twice. Dolphins become a contender, SF becomes a frontrunner, Carolina becomes a contender, etc...etc... it just makes no sense from a competitive standpoint for Watson to prefer New York.
