Is it possible that KC getting those picks is one of the reasons other teams aren't hiring Bieniemy now? I know that rule wasn't there in previous seasons, but now it is, and I could see it being like, one more thing to put on the "cons list" when they're debating whether or not to hire him.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if they do something this stupid, but Houston is risking getting a top ten pick and then some for Watson before the 2021 NFL Draft.

If they wait and he holds out, they are acquiring a bunch of uncertainties.

They can get #2 from the Jets plus a haul or #3 from Miami plus a haul. If he doesn't want to be there and they cannot fix this, they need to reset and move him for as much as possible.

This isn't me being a homer, but that #2 pick is extremely valuable to a team that will very clearly need a QB. They have their choice after Jacksonville takes Trevor Lawrence at #1.

Bieniemy got lucky, in my opinion. No one wants that Houston job and the Philly job isn't a great situation either.

It's not like Kansas City is going to fall off a cliff in 2021. He'll be part of a top offense again and should have some better interviews lined up next year.

If he gets passed over again then clearly something's up with him.

 

You guys have so many damn picks and a super young roster that even if Tua sucks, the team is still set up for sustained success if another QB change happens.

The Jets, on the other hand, will be desperate. Woody Johnson is back. He'll want to make a splash. I think we're bidding against ourselves if Watson is actually dealt.

There is going to be so much competition for Watson and there are teams picking higher that want him, so I'm not getting my hopes up......but the Panthers have been very transparent about wanting to upgrade at QB. They haven't bad mouthed Teddy, but they have said, on multiple occasions, that you have to be aggressive when finding your QB. Tepper, Rhule, and Fitterer have all had the same message. I don't think it's a coincidence. They are going to be major players in the Watson talks. And I've said it before, Tepper is a deal maker.

doubtful - maybe if it was the Chargers hiring, they might care, but even then, no one is really backing off of exorbitant FA contracts even though they know the other team is getting comp picks for them.
