There's also some fair concern on how good of a coach he actually is lol, yeah he's OC for the Chiefs but Andy calls the plays

And Mike Kafka runs the passing game!!!! And is Mahomes's coach. People really out here stanning for the guy responsible for a barely average running game.

Yeah, but the Eagles new HC has those exact same concerns

Its pretty clear this is whats doing it, and teams must know even more about the issues (or he's just terrible in answering questions about being remorseful or something), because this offseason it is pretty clear that teams will hire absolute garbage options over him.

Considering both Reids last two OC turned coaches are seeing their young QBs completely flame out on their way to getting fired, I understand people being hesitant on that too

Do the Bucs have the most diverse staff?

This hiring cycle, Brian Daboll is the most egregious non-hire but I have heard Bieniemy’s name 10x more

Yeah, totally, I get that. Every coach comes with their own concerns, it's just everyone thinking he's this sure-thing hire that the media is putting all their stock into that's weird lol

The lack of Black head coaches (and coordinators, and position coaches, etc.) is a real issue. The problem is that it's being framed and debated as an Eric Bieniemy issue, when it's much larger than him alone and should be addressed as such

this stat still blows my mind. 10 more of those yards came in that same LV game on another TD

so 25 YAC on the other 22 TD passes. THINK ABOUT THAT.

i think a big piece of it is who you’re close with. Reading between the lines, Reich speaking so highly of Sirianni carried a disproportionately strong weight in the Eagles’ interview in a way that it wouldn’t for any other teams because of Reich’s ties with the Eagles’ FO, and for whatever reason (luck/timing or what he brings to the table after seeing it on a regular basis or office politics and/or racial undertones), none of the execs or coaches with KC have made Bieniemy “their guy” when they’ve been in hiring positions even though I think there have been 2 or 3 openings from GMs off the Dorsey tree in recent years

crazy how many well-known / big-name QB's could be on the move this offseason and it all seems to need to start with Houston hiring a coach and then trading Watson or not for everything else to start rippling.

  13. I could easily see the packers missing the playoffs next year too with how difficult their schedule looks on paper

I think it’s really funny when people are like “THE NFL WANTED BRADY IN THE SUPER BOWL.”

Rodgers is just as marketable, Green Bay is just as shorty a market as Tampa, and Rodgers was literally the MVP this year. The NFL was fine with any outcome in the NFC I’m sure.

The smart move for them would be extending Adams for the cap relief and long-term, but he seems right at that point where the Packers start jettisoning WRs. Obviously Jones is gone, Williams is too unless he comes back cheap. Lazard is far from a lock to return.

Can see why Rodgers would be pissed when that first rounder could be Tee Higgins, or they could have taken a CB and not have Kenny King to cost them the damn game

Does Brady even do commercials anymore? Like, Rodgers is ALL over people's tv with commercials...he might be the more known player over Brady to the general public.

Last I checked, he was doing an expensive watch, an expensive car and like, a mattress and Under Armor of course. Nothing wild.

If the Buccaneers win the Super Bowl, Byron Leftwich and Blaine Gabbert will be Super Bowl champions. That would make 7/10 Jaguars starting QBs super bowl winners.

Bienemy does not have major off the field red flags wtf? Like if people are talking about the Colorado controversy he was the freaking running backs coach ffs?

Matt Patricia was charged with aggravated sexual assault and the NFL didn't give a shit, why are people pretending the petty shit Bienemy did >20 years ago is why he's being passed on?

I don’t think any of us can say why he’s being passed on specifically. But I think there is a large enough sample size of interviews to at least begin to wonder if there is a legitimate reason teams aren’t hiring him. I’m not going to try and guess what it is, but I do think it’s ok to simultaneously acknowledge there is nepotism and privilege in a lot of hires while also acknowledging he hasn’t impressed any of the teams that have interviewed him. I think both things can be true. Three years of job interviews without an offer leads me to believe it might be more of the individual than the system....even though the system isn’t perfect by any means.

The issue is shit like "he didn't interview well" can be coded language right? Or "he didn't connect well with" or impress the largely white GMs and white owners. The fact that Bienemy's history, personality, role, etc. is being picked apart when white coaches get no scrutiny is exactly the problem and what has led to a league with 70% black players having so few black head coaches.

  24. I don't really disagree with you, but I think part of the reason he is being picked apart is because he's been in the spotlight by the media for a couple years now. I'm sure there are people who use those excuses as coded language, but I think some of them are also just people like me who don't know why he isn't being hired and trying to figure it out. The easy, and perhaps obvious answer, is because he is black. But like I said previously, for me, it's getting to the point where I think it's more than a race issue with him specifically. And I say that knowing I could be completely wrong. But he has interviewed for teams who don't have shitty owners and teams that have hired minority coaches/staff previously and he has not been offered by those teams.

I think it's pretty obvious that it's harder for black coaches to move up the ladder and become HCs and/or coordinators. There's no way to deny it. And I don't think I can say that issue has absolutely nothing to do with Bieniemy's situation. I'm sure there is some nepotism and inherited bias going into the decisions that have caused him to miss out on HC opportunities. But I don't think that should automatically exclude some maybe legit reasons he specifically hasn't been hired. I know that sounds kinda contradicting, and maybe it's because I'm too naive, but I just find this particular situation a little more layered than "it's because he's black".

I was saying Urban shouldnt be hired cause of shit from 15 years ago too. And Urban has a nearly peerless track record.

As for his time at Colorado, he was a recruiter and the major scandals and violations were tied to recruiting.

Though i do agree the people targeting shit like his driving record in the 90s and his one DUI are out of line.
