A few days removed, I still don’t prefer hiring Baalke / Meyer over Smith / Fontenot. But it does at least feel like a clear upgrade in vision and details over Caldwell and Marrone.

Hate Urban but hope the best for Bevell. I thought he was pretty solid. Stafford looked really good with him for the most part.

yeah okay I’ll take the guy who worked with Favre and Wilson that’s pretty dope.

He maybe sucks at offensive line though which is a concern. And he’s often had an elite RB to work with (Lynch, AP... and Ahman Green was good) so that’s a crutch he won’t have here - I don’t necessarily credit him for Lynch and AP cause both were destined to be dominant.

but working with Favre and Wilson is good experience even if he had little to do with their actual development

They did, just not as gm. Seems like the roles are just swapped.

If memory serves, Bruce was in the "President" or "Football Operations" role that was all the not-on-the-field stuff, and then the GM controlled personnel. And it was only at the end that those merged. So makes sense they'd go back to having dual roles

It would be smart to go with Hamilton if the steelers are gonna miraculously find a qb

Here’s a local writer: “A team source would only confirm to the Post-Gazette that Canada is “a candidate” for the position vacated when Fichtner was not rehired last week.”

so apparently Rapoports report from over the weekend was false.

Usually its the exact same; technically a team can save more on a retirement if they go after a percentage of the signing bonus or whatever, but, you only see that in a case where like, say Watson decided to retire rather than play in Houston. He was 100% getting cut even if he didnt retire anyway.

Real questions to me are what they do with Haden and Ebron (I assume both re-sign for a few years) and when they do Watt's extension. All 3 combined with this can basically get us back to even cap along with a restructure or two.

I really wasn’t expecting that. Good guy. I’m glad he was here.
