I think they still win it, Wentz was playing lights out that year and was a MVP candidate before he got hurt. People dunk on him cause he's been ass/hurt lately but he was a legit top 10 QB at the time

    The rivalry is back on

It’s certainly possible! I thought it was more likely in like November than I do now. In order of how likely I think the Colts QB situation plays out:

    1) Colts go all in on a draft prospect
    2) Colts sign or trade for one (maybe two?) of the recent potential draft busts (Trubisky, Darnold, Winston, is Mariota an option?) and hope to reclaim them on a low risk deal and also give Eason every chance to win the job
    3) option 2, but with Brissett instead of a reclamation project
    4) Matt Ryan is available at a price the Colts are comfortable with
    5) Carson Wentz is available at a price the Colts are comfortable with
    6) Matt Stafford is available at a price the Colts are comfortable with
    7) One of these other mediocre QB situations breaks down (Goff, Carr, etc) and the Colts pounce
    8) My dream of Dak to IND becomes a reality
Last) The Texans would ever consider trading Deshaun Watson in the division

3 team trade fan-fic: NYJ gets Watson, Indy gets Darnold, Houston gets 2, 27, 34 and picks Fields/Wilson

I like this scenario for no other reason than that the Colts get Darnold for free

Lol I mean there would be some other shit to actually make it a 3 team trade but that's the gist of it

And by shit, I do mean shit

Nick Saban is basically running a coaching rehab in Tuscaloosa, but this is the one season where I'm not sure it will work.

Bill O'Brien is going to set them back.

May be a hot take but best QB's without a SB: Marino, Tarkenton, Kelly, Moon, Stafford, Rivers.

    In that order.

To be fair being OL coach at Bama is probably a higher stakes job than HC of the Jags.

I don't think Stafford is as good as Rivers. I bring that up because

    1. Stafford wouldn't be a step up at QB if the Colts sign him for next season
    2. People ranking him over Rivers for best QBs to never win SB

Stafford is 7 years younger and his arm isn't completely shot like we saw with Rivers in Indy.

It would be a big step up for Indy. Aside from having to replace Costanzo on the OL, that situation is about as plug-and-play as it gets for a QB.

  18. Stafford in Indy would rule

Rivers has had great teams around him during his time in SD. He is not a Stafford situation. He didn’t win because he was stuck in the AFC with the Colts, Pats, and Steelers and didn’t put his great team over those great teams.

Yeah Rivers had the better career to the point in his career that Stafford is at in his own now, but Stafford is way better currently. And is young enough that there's still reasonable change of scenery upside. Hope the Pats take a run at him honestly.

Rivers literally noodle armed a hail mary attempt to try and win a playoff game this season

you're going to sit here and tell me Stafford wouldn't be better? get out of here

Stafford is also 32 and is only like 10 months older than Russell Wilson. People act like he’s an elder statesman and that it’s time to talk legacy for him. There’s a 5 year trajectory for him where he’s definitely viewed more favorably than Rivers and also is one where he’s a backup QB in 5 years and we’re not talking about him in that same light.
