I don’t actually expect WFT to get Watson so I’m kind of hoping for Stafford.

This is pre cutting Mark Ingram which adds an additional $5MM.. but is the NFL really going to cut the salary cap down to $175 million? That puts a lot of teams in a much worse spot than the Ravens.

They should actually. I for one would like a hard cap and fully GTD contracts.

There's no way the NFL is gonna lower the cap. That would screw so many teams.

@xbrokendownx all jokes aside this is some pretty accurate targeted advertising.

imagine thinking literally every QB not named Jalen Hurts was worse than Tua

    this is insane

  13. Tua > big ben so list is inaccurate

I mean it's obviously click bait but still, thought it was funny.

    Cam Newton >>>>> Tua!

    I have evidence.

  16. Are there really people who think the Dolphins can get Watson without giving up the 3rd pick?

I think you just offer Tua 3 and 18 and some future pick and done

I still feel like the Dolphins would be in much better shape with Tua and new retooled offense and weapons than Deshaun and like nothing at all surrounding him.

  18. Nope nope nope

if you can acquire a top 5 QB you do it - especially if it’s only picks and Tua

Watson with the team the Dolphins already have >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tua and whatever they draft at 3 and 18

Yeah, this strikes me as the only real way that both sides can claim a win (NYJ + Darnold too).

Miami functionally trades Tunsil for Watson with an extra 1st thrown in...Houston gets a young QB and high 1st rounders that can help people mentally get excited for something else...still a massive loss for them, but no worse off than say, JAX who's also getting excited about a new young QB, new HC, and hoping draft picks pan out.

they'd still have cap space acquiring Watson for 2021...his cap hit is only $10.5 million next year. They could sign one of the big name FA WRs. They then have ~$90 million in space in '22 minus Watson's hit (probably more since Tua's cap hit is gone and some other cuttable dudes)

plus they have two 2nd round picks this year (assuming none would be in the deal)

I am fine with either option. Not a bad spot to be in.

  21. Every team save KC would trade their current QB for Watson

I just assumed acquiring Watson would break the bank and there would be no room to sign a top WR. I’d just hate to see Tua in Houston. Man, nobody deserves to be in Houston.

  23. There is nothing appealing about Darnold - that trade is a non-starter for me

yeah, his cap hit to a new team in 2021 is only $10.5 million which is awesome

If we were talking a 5-11 team, I'd agree 100%. Trading a lot for Deshaun for a team with 2-3 year still to go would definitely be foolish versus having insane depth.

But its a 10-6 Dolphins team that nearly made the playoffs, in a division that is a Josh Allen injury away from being NFC East soft. A bunch of the Dolphins players are right in that ~26-28yr old prime; they've got a good 3-5 year window where they should be a playoff team every year...which is exactly the window most rookie QBs need to go from "good" to "elite". Watson, Russ, Rodgers, Big Ben, etc...their 4th year as starters they go up majorly (+10TD, +1000 yards, etc, completion percentages way up, etc).
