for some reason people think Stafford is gone though. No idea what is contract is, but leading up to week 17 a lot of people were saying, “is this the last time we see Stafford in a Lions uniform?”

not sure if they were wondering that because he was playing a meaningless week 17 game while injured or what.

Thing he's got going for him is that he left and they went from "perennial playoff team" to "most embarassing franchise" pretty darn quick....and it was BoB who wanted him gone so, that almost means he had to be doing something right.

But beyond that, yeesh...thats the best teams have?

Hmmm...odd. Definitely very tradeable if they want to move on in that way (especially before his roster bonus), and if you're going to, now is certainly the time. But, he's basically on a 2yr/$60mil deal that you can both keep as its WAY cheaper than top end QB deals, or easily extend for another 2-3 years beyond that and drive his 2021 cap number way down. All their 30+ year old WRs are gone, so you could spend the draft and FA stocking up on his passing options.

But if they want to trade him, then yeah, I'd avoid that job because you're starting from square one with not enough good.

If I had to rank the jobs, itd be

    GM
    1. Falcons (enough talent you are probably competitive once Drew Brees retires and Tom Brady dwindles...a few good years you can con your way into a 10+ year job)
    2. Jaguars (cap space + picks)
    3. Panthers
    4. Lions
    5. WFT (feels like you're 2nd fiddle to Dan and Rivera)

    Head Coach

    1. Chargers (you have a QB and skill position players and some defensive talent)
    2. Falcons (same as GM, a solid year or two and you can outlast Brees/Brady)
    3. Jaguars (cant get worse)
    4. Lions
    5. Jets
    6. Texans (this would have been higher than NY...but after the GM hire...)

Pagano was definitely going to get fired if he didn’t retire. But looking like Nagy and Pace will keep their jobs. Very bad.

How is the Jets job worse than Detroit?

The Jets have one of the more respected young GMs in the NFL, four first round picks over the next two drafts, and $80M in cap space.

I get that the AFC East is tough, but the Jets are set up to improve drastically by 2022.

once Brady and Brees go, the NFCS is cake compared to having to face the Titans and Colts

I’d take the Jax GM job all day though. And if I was a coach being given GM control I’d take Jax too.

We are just a great starting point. Despite having holes all over the place, for a 1-15 team we also have a lot of high-potential young players in place. Myles Jack and Josh Allen in particular could become elite... and then also James Robinson, DJ Chark / Laviska Shenault, CJ Henderson, and K’Lavon Chaisson look like they’ll be very solid core players. Jawaan Taylor is in the mix as well but I hope he takes a step forward next season.

We have a couple key veterans that can help stabilize the team as well. Looking at our offensive line guys - Brandon Linder / Andrew Norwell / possibly Cam Robinson could all be starters for the foreseeable future. Plus Joe Schobert is the perfect match for Myles Jack on defense. I think OL and MLB are tough positions to address in the draft, and conversely are the perfect spots to have some veteran leadership, stability, and continuity on a young team - while you spend draft capital on playmakers.

And then you’ve got Trevor Lawrence, 5 more picks in the top 100, and by far the most cap space of any team. Defensive line and secondary are the biggest holes by far, but we have enough early picks where it’s not irresponsible to spend one or two of them on another offensive weapon as well.

it’s a clean enough slate to build the team in your image, but the fact we have offensive pieces, a few front 7 guys, and a chance to draft Lawrence and several long term pieces... means that a GOOD coach could be competitive early and not walk into a situation he’s gonna get fired from.

Also guys on Friday I’m literally going to make steak tacos / home style fajitas with:

    1) an attempt at making Brazilian picanha with a sirloin cap, even though I don’t have a grill, by marinating and reverse searing it

    2) homemade pico de Gallo and avocado crema

    3) caramelized onions and mushrooms

    4) an Argentine mint infused chimichurri

This is a big goal this year. I love fajitas / tacos way too damn much to not make them at home. I wanna try this with Achiote-marinated roasted chicken and my favorite - carnitas - as well.

what does "rumors are getting stronger" mean :(

it's so vague can y'all just not with the vague Tweeting. That could easily either mean "more sources are leaking" or "I'm just going to parrot what everyone else is saying as my own headline to stay current"

oh hey Tony Boselli was named a finalist for HOF again.

It's crazy he literally only played for 6 years but he's quietly recognized as one of the best. I love watching him on old Jags footage. He legitimately stands the fuck out and is just beating people up all day. And then taunting them as he runs down the field for the next play. Some of the replays of his footwork while blocking a defender are absurd, like he's psychic and can read their vibrations to know their next move.

My favorite games of his are vs Bruce Smith in 1996 playoffs, and vs Jason Taylor in the 1999 playoffs. He made elite pass rushers look fuckin silly. Bruce Smith had 0 pressures that BUF game, and vs MIA he threw Taylor on the ground onto his face multiple times as Fred Taylor waltzed all over the field.

Aside from the NY media scrutiny and the very real possibility that the current GM loves Darnold, you'll pass on an elite QB, and be destined to fail...the Jets coach has to be better than Josh Allen, the Miami D, and Bill Belichick for nearly 40% of his games next year. The Lions HC just has to accept two losses to Rodgers and then gets to play Kirk Cousins and whatever trash comes to replace Trubisky.

Also, long term...the Jets have to surpass Josh Allen and the Bills, an elite Dolphins defense with even more draft picks in 2021 than they have, and probably the greatest HC the game has every seen. Whereas in Detroit, you get a locked in 3 years, and by the end of that, your entire division might be QB-less (if Love doesnt pan out, the Bears keep fucking up, and Cousins retires/moves on).

Also, ATL over JAX is also QB based. You can win 10 games with the current ATL squad (especially if Brees retires), because they have a QB and WRs and an offense...something to build on...versus a rookie QB coming into a team that was hot garbage all of 2020.

Heading into 2020, would you rather be coaching the Cleveland Browns (team with a clear QB and weapons, but who had struggled at time), or the Bengals (hot rookie QB throwing to....? with a line thats.....? and a defense that means you need to score 30+ every game?). If you said the Bengals, I hope your agent got you a LOT of guaranteed money for when you're wrong.

Truthfully, I'd argue the Falcons job as #1 because its an NFC job and the NFC QBs are done in the next few years...whereas the AFC, between the Chiefs, Bills, Ravens, and then lower key the Titans/Browns/Dolphins...the playoffs might be locked in for a while.

Whereas we are a Drew Brees and Tom Brady retirement + Dak Prescott demanding a trade away from a Kirk Cousins/Jared Goff battle for 3rd best QB in the NFC. And having watched Russell Wilson melt down in the month of December this year...is there any NFC QB right now, Rodgers aside, that scares any team?
