    The rivalry is back on

I didn’t include working out extensions to keep Big Q and Leonard around long term and that’s definitely more important than a kicking competition

We had like, the perfect wedding planned. It was honestly gonna be awesome. But the price just kept creeping up and up and we made the move to cancel it and downsize our plans to save money for a house.

So it was sad at first but the right thing to do but now we’re planning wedding 2.0 on a much smaller budget and it’s been a challenge lol

How big you doing? We cancelled everything and did the backyard covid-19 wedding. This was last April though when it was starting to get really bad.

    Sad cat teams

It’s gonna be a super special day regardless and it’ll be a blur that you look back on fondly, so don’t sweat the small stuff because you’ll be pulled in so many different directions that you won’t even notice

IE. I was very excited for my groom’s cake and picked out the flavors and the whole thing got served without me getting to try it

Smart to not throw away the money. Our wedding ended up being pretty cheap (helps that I do photography and traded weddings with a buddy who does so as well), and spending the money on the honeymoon was way more rewarding

Wedding 2.0 will probably be 25 people outdoors assuming vaccinations in stuff and then the plan is to do a reception next year for the full list.

The honeymoon was actually included in our original wedding’s package so that was part of the sadness of cancelling.

This for sure. We had ours at a big hunting lodge style place so everyone could all stay at one place...and for catering we had them box stuff up so we could just reheat it before serving.

Except we were out doing our photos and I guess nobody checked if all the foil containers were meant to go in the oven, and the Caesar Salad got cooked. Its everyone's favorite story from the wedding.

That sucks; but best choice we made (since we had been living together for 2yrs already and had all the "stuff) was making the stuff we wanted to do on our honeymoon our wedding registry. We did 10 days in Hawaii and I dont think we paid for a single thing because we made lunches/dinners, any activities, and even the AirBnBs things that people could chip in for. When we got back, our thank you cards all included a photo of us doing that thing

So you might be able to still do a kickass honeymoon without breaking the bank

    there is one way out

Our wedding was super cheap (we were both recently out of college and none of our parents were offering to pay or anything). So we did the whole thing at a firehall with some favors from family friends for like $5,000. And did a road trip up through Canada for our honeymoon.

    would do again.

Our wedding venue was super cheap, but the food, that’s what’ll get ya. We even went cheaper by doing breakfast food but it was still so much lol

    Lets Go. Prestigious

if you have a cheap venue, consider a food truck

we wanted to do that but it didn't work out logistically so we just ended up ordering pizzas, pasta, and Chick-fila nuggets for our outdoor wedding lol

Thats why you big on the venue and cater in dominos

  14. We went big on our venue and then we cooked our own food for a taco bar type deal

    Nope. Supporter

We had to use a pre-approved list of caterers from the venue, there were like 5 or 6. We had booked the venue so far in advance that we didn’t really look into the caterers prices until it was too late so it was our own fault really. It was still pretty cheap compared to the national average though

Yeah. Food is super expensive. One of my dads friends owns a deli/catering business and catered it for us on the cheap.

Oh god, see, this was the original plan. We were gonna have it at the venue attached to Fallingwater (the Frank Lloyd Wright house). Only certain vendors approved. Without blinking that wedding was gonna be $15k for like 60 people. Thats what convinced the MIL maybe there was another way.

We rented a 10-bedroom place with a massive ass deck and spent maybe $3-4k total on the wedding. Aside from the cost of flying/driving to Western PA, nobody had to spend a dime the whole weekend. And of course, the mother-in-law loved the place and the event and had no regrets. And she got to run her own show at the Iowa reception (which they paid for) and all was well.

My favorite moment of the wedding is when my wife, myself, and the photographer walked past the wedding party that did book the Fallingwater venue that day...because its right next to a public forest where we did our photos...and that entire group was SOOOO confused, like they had weddings slotted in on the hour or something. And we got to look at them all knowing they cost their friends, bare minimum, like $250/person

The moral is definitely you can do a wedding cheap and everyone loves it

    there is one way out

My wife and I are going away in a few weekends near Fallingwater. It’s supposed to be open again by Feb 1, so we’re crossing our fingers it actually reopens. Despite living in western PA my whole life I’ve never been.

Probably doubly so if its snowy, check out the Bear Run Nature Preserve. Right across the street from the turn for Fallingwater, its free and has some cool hiking trails.

Lions are interviewing Ed Dodds, which is interesting given he pulled out of consideration for the Carolina job and seemed like he was just going to stay in Indy

thats how I feel too. Looking back, I wish we had not spent that money. I’d recommend to anyone to just do it at the courthouse and call it a day.
