Right, but the point is a desperate team willing to overpay, and thus jack up the price, has no leverage here like the Rams did. Pretty sure we all laughed at the Rams overpaying too, especially when Minkah went soon after for just a 1st.

I get what you're saying but it isn't the same.

 

Also, its worth remembering we are talking 1 of 2 very specific scenarios where this is even possible.

1. Jack Easterby is truly in charge, is worse than BOB and so monomaniacal that he tells Deshaun to fuck off for even questioning him, and wants him gone in a trade. This would be the Hopkins scenario, and truthfully, Watson might go for Tua and #3 at that price or something low. We're no longer talking logic or "fair market value", just as we werent with the Hopkins trade.

2. Deshaun Watson says I'll never play another snap as a Texan; and is willing to sit out the 2021 season and beyond to prove it (meaning he pays back his signing bonus and all). In that scenario, he holds a TON of leverage and does have the ability to affect the price a little...say by denying a Jags or Jets trade (which makes the Dolphins #3 even more valuable, etc). Not sure what fair market is there, but it feels like "what Dan Snyder would pay for a QB he covets" is a pretty high price by any standard (Tua, #3, #18, and a 2nd).

Anything other than those two exact scenarios and Watson wont get traded. And even #2, strong odds he wouldnt get traded until after the draft cause I'd imagine the team would try and call his bluff before then. It might only be on like, draft day, that it'd even happen if the Texans truly believed him.

 

@xbrokendownx lets say trades aren’t a thing that exists (for players or other picks) and you have to stay out at 3, who would you take?
