we really gonna compare Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Hunter Henry, Austin Ekeler, etc to what the Dolphins had? Or how about the fact that the Chargers had a bad defense which ultimately meant they had to throw way more? How about the fact that Herbert was healthy and did not have to spend all offseason rehabbing? Do you think any of that factored in?

like I said, Herbert had a great year. This thinking that we automatically have to now crown him is ridiculous though. Do you remember RGIII as a rookie? I also bet you thought Josh Allen sucked as a rookie when he had a 52% completion % with a million turnover and only 10 TD passes

All I’m saying is if we wanna use “weapons” as the reason that it’s not fair to say Herbert is the better QB then you have to at least consider the pre draft evaluation that Tua was better is inherently flawed due to the fact he had a fucking NFL offense and Herb was throwing to Johnny Johnson and Travis Dye

 

I personally am impressed by Herbert’s rookie season and slightly concerned with Tua’s rookie season, would pick Herbert today if given the option between the two, but also am not anywhere near declaring Tua “bad” and am excited to see him after getting a full offseason to work with a roster that is bound to have more talented skill position players than the 2020 version of the team

 

Herbert's coach at Oregon did him zero favors too.
