As a Browns fan I hate saying this, but Pittsburgh is one of my favorite cities to visit. So much so that it’s where I chose to have my bachelor party. It’s such a cool city. If you haven’t been, I highly encourage visiting.

Yes, because I was in the middle of a massive project that needed to launch before our systems administrator's wife went into labor in Late February, was up visiting my girlfriend in Erie and stayed Monday knowing we'd have the snow day...drove back later that day and had to dig a spot for my car out of the 20+" of snow that had started to ice up.

...and then proceeded to be unable to go to work the rest of the week, which is where all my video work was.

Made major progress on Twilight Sword that week though.

    catching up:

    1) Wisconsin does the chair to cover your parking spot thing. i've also seen small wagons and assorted patio furniture also used

    2) a coworker just moved to the outskirts of Atlanta but they bought a huge fucking house with a pool for like $880K after selling their house in Milwaukee, WI for $450K so yikes at that massive jump but her husband just got a raise so i guess blow it on a new house(?)

    3) that Athens house that Carpet linked to is nuts. we have fucking 2-bedroom condos in a very "meh" area in a nearby town that are starting at $225K. almost NOTHING in any city in Wisconsin should be $225K and this is in a town with 7K people and no grocery store. ass backwards.

would NEVER spend that much on a house, jesus christ. If I had 880k to drop on a house then ya boy is getting three.

Genuinely great city to visit for like 2 days; bunch of breweries, really good museums, pretty solid food, and relatively easy to get around as long as you dont try to drive.

And unlike any US city Ive been to, maybe Seattle aside, there's genuine elevation change so in like 10 minutes you can get to a place overlooking everything and its a cool vibe.

Yeah a high school friend moved up there and loves it. Also one of the best music blogs (RIP) was based in Pittsburgh

There’s this spot an hour north of Atlanta I went to for a thanksgiving party last year. Lawyer who’s represented NFL players and shit. Most incredible house I’ve ever seen. I’m not a “big house” person but it’s more so how decked out it was. Y’all should’ve seen both kitchens / both bars / movie theater downstairs / deck with a pool and a gazebo hot tub overlooking the lake.

Maybe it’s a little BoJack Horseman of me but I’d share that with a few friends and live on opposite sides of the house lol.

I went to school an hour and a half north of there, so most of my college friends were from there...and it was also the easiest Warped Tour venue to get to.

Also, Pittsburgh is the kind of city where you can also do that "how is that house not $500k" thing about, but way closer to downtown than you'd expect.

man. Did she give birth first or did the project get released first? Lol cause that’s some act of god stuff if you just got snowed out of a deadline

you don’t expect to come home to Virginia under more snow than Erie PA

I like that you brought up Seattle cause that was something I LOVED about that city. It’s ridiculously scenic despite being pretty dense and built up.

ill take those good museums as well. That’s one of my favorite things about DC / Baltimore. I haven’t even begun to see the Smithsonian and Baltimore’s Aquarium / art Museums enough times.

    Yeah, it was wild.

We ended up getting the site relaunched shortly after his wife gave birth (she ended up being a little late), he just traded like the whole month of march off for working the week after his kid was born.

They are no longer a couple...

when I was a kid (elementary school maybe middle school too) I used to think everyone paid for things in cash so I was always shocked at how good people were at saving since they bought expensive houses and cars. Took me forever to learn what credit cards and bank loans were lol

which makes sense since kids don’t have credit cards or bank loans and get told they have to save for what they want yet adults don’t

Kind of crazy the housing markets in different parts of the country. So glad to live in Northeast Ohio where you can buy a very, very nice home from anywhere from 250-350K whereas the same house would easily be double or triple in other parts of the country.

I have a lot of “successful” friends who live in the Carolinas who have spent 600-700K on homes and while they are super nice homes, I can’t help but think they’d be like, 300K tops in Northeast Ohio.

I just looked in my city and there are 10-15 houses that have dropped $80-$100K in the last few weeks. $80-$100 DECREASE! That’s insanity. Those houses are still $600-$800K after the decrease. Ridiculous.

we live south of york, but straight up 83 between york and baltimore. we're only about a mile north of the state line, so just barely pennsylvanians. we def still claim baltimore and rarely do any of our day to day stuff in PA.

TBH, I'm not a huge Hampden fan. Too hipster for me, and there's very little in between the hipster folk and the conservative blue collar crowd that's lived there for generations. Roland Park is the neighborhood I basically work in and it's wayyyyy too expensive for any of us to live there in anything we'd all want to live in. Fed Hill is the 20-something bar bro crowd. Would have loved it 10 years ago, now I can't imagine. Mount Vernon is good city living, for sure.

I think now that I'm 34, live in a single family home with a yard in the country but an easy 40 minute drive to downtown, it's hard to imagine going back to the city life. Towson might be the closest I'd get. and because i stopped drinking. yeah, that's prob the biggest reason i don't feel the need to be in the city.

is that the zelda game that came out circa 2009?

three houses is overkill - you'd feel way too obligated to spend more time at them just based on the principle of paying the mortgage every month. one nice house and then a beach/lake/mountain place is the move. we just closed on selling my townhouse yesterday and plan to pay off some bills and use the rest to get a condo at the beach sometime in the next year.
