    Lets Go. Prestigious

while I like Preston Williams, I am not counting on him for anything next year

this is now 2 years in a row with a serious injury and he wasn't that fast to begin with

anyone else remember the band Billy Talent? i mean, they're still around but i didn't know that until a quick WIkipedia search.

forgot how good their self-titled was. ironically enough i was thinking, "damn, this band really does some impressive things for a debut" and then learned they were around for almost a decade before that album dropped. makes sense, lots of jams and great tunes.

    and now, back to football...

Well you guys are seemingly blaming the NFLPA when they just represent what the players want. The players themselves don't want to strike and use their leverage, that's not the NFLPA's fault.

I mean, what good is having leadership if they never have to lead.

The NFLPA is not really leadership. That's the Board of Reps, which again, is the players.

Look if I'm missing something, I'd love to have it explained. But you typing nonsense doesn't mean much.

The Board of Reps tells the NFLPA what they want to do. The NFLPA is never going to be leadership for the Union, they are representatives of that union. You said if the NFLPA had better leadership, they would be able to negotiate these things. Unless I'm mistaken, that leadership vacuum you're speaking of falls on the Board of Reps elected by the players.

The NFLPA doesn't make the decisions, the Board of Player Reps does and that's where the leadership needs to be stepped up.

And you know this exactly how? I am willing to bet that most, if not all players, do not understand the intricacies of labor because that's not their job, that's literally what a labor union and its leadership is for. The players probably have no idea how to use their leverage because those at the top of leadership are spineless cowards

Know what how? That they don't want to strike? I'm inferring it because they could've literally gone on strike and chose not to.

And what I am saying is that the leadership group at the top is weak and has no idea how to convene that message to the players to get them to use their leverage. They have no idea how to use their power. I'm sure it's not a unanimous situation that the players don't want to strike, but the NFLPA and player reps have no idea how to put that into action with those that do and build a movement i.e. the NBA

The NFLPA can't sign anything without taking it to the Board of Player Reps first. If they Board of Player Reps said "We want to strike unless X, Y, and Z are met" and then the NFLPA comes with an agreement to the player Reps that doesn't have X, Y, and Z met. The player reps need to tell the NFLPA they are going to strike.

Instead the player reps basically say "Oh okay thanks for trying" and then the NFLPA gets the blame.

I'm not a NFLPA shill. I think the draft shouldn't exist, all contracts should be fully GTD, the franchise tag shouldn't exist, the players should be getting a way higher % of revenue. They receive less than half currently and that number should be far closer to 75% than 50%. The NFL Owners would still operate at a profit.

I want to clarify because we might be discussing the same thing and going in circles.

To be clear: I think the players need to do a better job using their leverage and going to the NFLPA with stronger breaking points.

And from what I understand, you think the NFLPA Reps that are taking the players requests are doing a bad job of having those requests met.

    Right?

like... just when you were in a menu screen right? not while playing the game itself / lining up a shot, right?

Or was it Hot Shotz Golf? then it would make sense

Essentially yes, but I'm also saying the players reps are doing a bad job of explaining to the players what their power looks like, what kind of leverage they have, etc. I'm assuming the average player knows nothing about labor movements and it is the reps and the NFLPA's job to explain it to them. Sure the reps can be taking requests, but the players don't know what they actually can request if that makes sense

Yeah I get what your saying. So really we agree the players need to do a better job at getting informed and using their leverage. I just don't really think that falls on the NFLPA who, by and large, try not to influence the players in one way or another.

I think DeMaurice Smith being named over Troy Vincent or Trace Armstrong was such a huge fucking mistake because he wasn't an NFL player. It should always be a former NFL player.
