I knew this would happen. Dude sucks until his contract year and of course they do this.

Hell, they declined his 5th year option expecting to suck probably. I will give props to Munchak for finding some way to get this guy better.

That's great and all, but the Jets still got two firsts and a third for an undersized linebacker

It's almost as if other NFL teams aren't using their safeties as edge rushers...

    6.5 sacks, not 8

That reminds me the Texans finally started utilizing Reid as a blitzing safety and he’s had 2 sacks already after having none early in his career

Feels like that top reply kind of nails it

This clip reminds me why Tony Romo is the best commentator. Devoid of context, I want to ROAST Stafford for getting sacked by a guy pointing at a penalty on the snap...but he's already mentioning how Houston is doing accidental prevent defense.

Yeah I think the moral of the story is don’t trade two first round picks for someone. If that’s their price, pass on it. No player other than a top 12 QB is worth that price.

I have to work today but I think if I got done a little early and turned on football at 3:30 on a Wednesday my wife would do harm to me. She is not a fan and already puts up with a lot of football.

Yes, this one. It would take a very special player to get two firsts out of me. Like...the Khalil Mack trade gets a pass in my mind and i can't think of many others. Would prob do it for Aaron Donald. Maybe a Bosa?

I don’t think anyone was shitting on Jamal Adams/the Seahawks for being a bad pass rusher/pressure generator/run stopper (which is laughably not true). Seahawks got shit for it because they/their fans boasted about him improving their passing defense, which was never a strong ability of his, and he hasn’t helped there at all (which is like, the main job of a safety, I thought?)

    The rivalry is back on

I don’t even like it for that caliber of that player tbh. A reality of the NFL is that you need to fill about half your roster with competent players on rookie deals (and the more stars you have on those deals, the better), and it’s not impossible to do that without 2 first round picks, but it makes it very very hard to do so.

All of the teams that have been doing these kind of trades (Bears, Rams, Texans) share in common that they’re paper thin and I don’t think that’s a recipe for success. I’d imagine the Seahawks are in that boat 2 years from now as well

That's pretty fair. The Rams are the only one in there who are even competitive. You're really making that trade if you're one player away I guess and some teams are too jumpy on it.

Even more direct, Im trying to think if there is any team that traded a lot to move up for a QB and maybe KC is the only one who it hasnt wildly backfired on. Though even KC has some depth issues coming out of basically trading their entire 2017 draft to get Mahomes and Hunt, and not even having Hunt on the team anymore.

The RGIII trade, the Julio Jones trade, the Goff trade, the Wentz trade, the list goes on.

Tennessee got Jack Conklin, Derrick Henry, Jonnu Smith, Corey Davis, and Kevin Byard out of the Goff trade.

I usually get off at 4 but have calls until 5 today. I will definitely not be paying attention on the calls and will have the game on.

Jamal is great, but the Jets got paid a premium price for him. It's a good move in the short term, and if the Seahawks win a Superbowl it's a slam dunk.

Seahawks also waste first round picks on much worse than Jamal Adams so I never had an issue with the trade. And those picks should be mid to late 20’s. Teams can still hit on those picks of course but I don’t think the Seahawks gave them a top 15 pick in either year and the Seahawks don’t usually make good picks until round 2-3
