This rests solely at the fault of management. We could've cut who we needed to cut last year to get Ramsey and Ngakoue signed early and neither of those timelines would've developed the way they did. Their unrest with the organization snowballed from contract insecurity despite having proven themselves as two of the premier young defenders in the league.

 

Very sad to see Bouye go. At least we traded him instead of cutting him. An extra 1st/2nd and 4th for losing Yannick/Bouye is at least something. Hopefully we have a new GM and Jeaux Brady at the helm next year to make the most of these picks.

 

Apparently there are multiple teams interested in Foles. @Jags please just get him off of the roster, I really don’t care what the best offer is.

 

Back to the negotiating table at work tomorrow. Been “lightly” battling upper management / HR for what my promotion should include and I haven’t really let them know that I’m going for the jugular (yet), although I have volleyed some major... “requirements” their way. That likely changes tomorrow. I’ve got a lot of key facts and proven points to help make my case (instead of just saying “give me more money dammit”) so we’ll see how that plays out. My main manager is actually very much on my side, but I don’t know how much pull she really has or how much insight into the budget she can see but it is nice to know I’m not alone on an island.

Also this. No one is trading a first. If we were gonna do this bullshit we should’ve traded him midseason, not now that teams have draft plans and value their picks a little more.

His value would’ve been highest right after trading Ramsey for two firsts, could easily make the case he’s worth at least one of them, before our defense took a nosedive that likely devalued him. Especially because the team would have got him for 2019 and possibly had a more competitive season that way.

 

It’s the one foot in one foot out bullshit that drives me insane.

-Choose Coughlin’s tyrannical attitude over players’ feelings about it,
-trade your best player and clearly give up the season,
-but then try to keep a bunch of other disgruntled players so you can go... 6-10?
-then fire Coughlin to save face
-but then still not sign the other good players, suggesting they were kept for no reason?

Like if you’re gonna “change the culture of the team” then fucking do it and sell high on your talent! If you’re gonna keep your studs, sign them an offseason early and fucking do it! Caldwell repeatedly just waits around, looks fuckin stupid when we start losing and players get annoyed and demand more money to lose in a shitty city, and then acts stingy... but then when we don’t have any talent he fuckin panics and backtracks by signing terrible FA contracts. Which contradicts being stingy in the first place.

It’s a vicious cycle at this point. You can’t just lowball everybody and see who says yes. Players are not dumb, they talk to each other, they talk to players on other teams who got what they were worth. At this point he probably pissed off the whole team and that’s why Bouye is gone.

 

Imagine an alternate reality where we didn’t sign Malik Jackson, Marcell Dareus, Andrew Norwell or Chris Conley, and instead kept Fowler, Yannick, and Ramsey

Probably still draft Taven Bryan and suck at run defense in 2018 / 2019 but on the flip side. Good luck for QBs. I’d go Derrick Brown / Neville Gallimore this year and have some damn fun.
