If they weren’t going to do the franchise tag on Green, I’d have only wanted to do a one-year deal anyway because he’s struggled a ton with injuries over the past few years. No sense in giving him a two or three-year deal when he’s only played one full season in the past four years

    Nope. Supporter

Yeah it’s definitely not a bad move for Bengals. Who knows if Green will ever get back to form but if he can, that’s a huuuuge plus for Burrow

Yeah really the move means a whole lot more for Burrow in year one than it does for Green

Exactly. Either they get a good 2-3 year deal with plenty of maneuverability or they go all in on the tag and are out of it in a year.

Remember when that lb from tcu had a horrible combine? Not comparing but everyone loved him before that and he went in the 5th round or something afterward

Also, its not like they have anyone else with anything even resembling talent that is hitting free agency, so might as well use the tag on one of their like, 5, NFL-level talent players.

edit: God, its worse than I imagined...Dunlap, Geno, and Boyd are the only people making big money worth keeping on their roster. I can make like $70mil in cap space on their roster without even blinking.

Franchise tags should be abolished, keeping players hostage is bullshit if they aren't happy.

Agreed. Hate them and the Rookie contract being 5 years (for first round picks)

3+1 if you really need the option year but really it should be a three year deal. By year 4 they are what they are and you can decide accordingly. The 4th and 5th year is just greedy.

Once again, fuck Tom Coughlin. He’s the main reason we didn’t sign Yan last off-season.

But also it’s crazy they couldn’t reach a deal, apparently the numbers Yan wanted weren’t outrageous. This organization in inept.
