I think it's more so that the Patriots were a pretty dead franchise around here until Bill and Brady showed up. I don't think random people in California were really bandwagoning to the Pats, but Sox and Celtics fans were paying a lot more attention than they usually had.

 

Yeah I mean we have bandwagon fans with every good team, it's not the Pats fault they were good for 20 years.

There are 100% a ton of bandwagon Pats fans that they’ve accrued over the years. They are also the most obnoxious of their fans so I think that’s why they stick out more than the long-term fans.

Bandwagon Seahawks/Saints fans are just as annoying

I mean...plenty of data out there suggest the overwhelming majority of people outside of MA, RI, ME, NH and VT HATE the Patriots...

Yeah Pats and Seahawks have the most bandwagon fans. I remember growing up nobody gave a shit about the Seahawks, but then Centurylink Field opened up and they made their first SB and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. I’ve always hated the Seahawks for that reason and for the fact that all of their games are televised here in Portland. At least they are good now, but I hated having to watch them as a kid because they sucked and I had to watch them instead of getting more higher profile matchups.

 

As a kid I was all about uniforms. So I liked the Seahawks and Bengals because those are the best 90's jerseys.

 

I was a broncos fan in the 90's because i went to a private school and all my bullies were packers fans. Fuck Brett Favre.

 

I had one bully and he was a Steelers fan but now he's dead.

 

As a former Houston Oilers fan, I 100% agree with this theory of fandom

Are bandwagon Giants fans a thing? I feel like they were when they won those 2 SB’s against the patriots. It may just be people that hated the patriots, and living in a New England state but I feel like remember seeing a lot of NYG hats back then
