The NFL gets $1 billion a year from CBS, $1.1 billion from Fox and $950 million from NBC for games...and I think ESPN pays $1.9 billion for MNF. The DirectTV deal is for $1.5 billion. So, TV networks pay ~$6.5 billion a year to air NFL games. Paying the best commentator in the game $17mil/year (~half what Matt Lauer made for doing Today, for example) makes perfect sense to me.

Also, is crazy to think about, but good chance the TV rights surpass $10 billion when they renew the deals. Espcialyl since there's almost no chance DirectTV keeps NFL Sunday Ticket and I'd bet Amazon or Google or Disney buys it up.

But this would be another ridiculous draft. No way Higgins falls to the second but if he did we'd be dumb not to take him. He's going to be the best receiver out of this class. You guys probably disagree but I think that dude is gonna be elite.

Hurts in the 3rd is pretty ideal tbh. Let him sit behind Cam for a year. Then we have more leverage in our decision with Cam's future. If he looks good, we can potentially trade Jalen. Or maybe Cam walks and Jalen takes over.

 

I don't think Higgins will be the best (but maybe he will!) but man I definitely think he's being underrated lately
