The Ravens should hang a banner in their stadium for the draft they had then.

 

I’m not saying they should have drafted a WR, but you cannot go into a season hanging your hat on just one WR. That’s fragile teambuilding and malpractice

I don’t think it’s wrong to look at Bateman, Andrews, Dobbins, and Lamar and think “we are explosive enough on offense to prioritize the rest of the roster”. I think injuries are skewing this discussion

The Ravens/Packers handle WRs like they're the fucking sith from the Star Wars prequel. Theoretically they always have 2, but only one is ever visible, and the one who seems to be the 2nd is routinely getting hurt badly.

I'm not sure any QB has had such shitty options as Lamar has had; meanwhile Burrow has 3 WRs better than Lamar has ever seen, Herbert likewise is throwing to a RB better than any Ravens WR.

The Ravens really went into this season with Bateman, who missed most of training camp and half of the 2021 season to injury, and Duverney, who’s a cute WR3 at best, at WR. Just laughable

It’s a balance. If they prioritized skill position players after the atrocious performance by their defense and offensive line last season we’d be saying the inverse. Teams can’t do everything at once, they have to prioritize certain parts of the rebuild to tailor it to their coaching staff

saying they did a horrible job with their offense because they finished 10-7 and almost tied a playoff game… when their QB1, WR1 and RB1 missed half the season, and their offensive coordinator got figured out by the whole league for the third time… just feels misplaced

By the way, we say this about the 49ers every year too and rightfully shit on their inability to keep people healthy. But this year, the 49ers went and got extra help to counter that.

You just listed the absolute bare minimum of skill talent any NFL team should have. Hell, the Texans, who we all know were striving for like 3-14 at best, have a skill group that matches that except the QB

not disappointed w the draft, quite pleased. We’ve invested a ton of draft capital into receivers the past few years and haven’t developed a single one. Torrey smith is as close as we’ve ever come.

 

Is this not cherry-picking / minimizing the discussion though? Lamar isn’t just a marginally better QB than Davis Mills… he is about 4 QB tiers better than that guy AND is the Ravens LEADING RUSHER
