Unless a team is trading like a high 2nd for him (unlikely), I think you keep him and have a genuine QB contest next offseason. If Lance can show growth and be ready to start, great. You have the best backup in the league then. If he cant, then you start Purdy and probably also have a top 5 backup who can do unique things for 5-10 plays a game.

I mean, they basically had the exact same situation back in 2013 or whatever their SB year was

 

do squib kicks EVER work? I feel like they just always are fucked up

 

Its actually kinda dumb too because what you should really do is have your kicker place it high and inside the 10...still forces a return, but makes the odds of them getting the ball past the 30 real low. And thats a kick every NFL kicker should have.

Squib kick just has too many variables; its like "hey, kick an onside kick at 200% power and hope it goes where you want!"
