I mean they basically got gifted a TD for doing the exact wrong thing. Penalty shouldn’t stop the clock til the next snap

if they had accepted the penalty it normally stops the clock if it’s defensive but they declined it so that seems weird.

That’s usually if refs throw an incorrect flag IIRC, I think a declined penalty still stops play cuz the refs “correctly” stopped for the penalty, but if they throw a flag and “take it back”, clock starts when ball is set

I could be talking out my ass tho idk, yeah football is weird
