Do most teams not have a second guy on the team who can kick, or was Seattle taking a danger risk with how they structured their roster?

Seems like whether its your kicker Gramaticaing himself during a FG celebration or even just landing wrong trying to tackle a returner or simply pulling something like Janikowski did, the likelihood of losing your kicker is high enough that its worth having someone who can at least make extra points...

 

you're only allowed 46 active players and 53 on your roster

it doesnt happen frequently enough for it to warrant a 2nd roster spot

 

Sure kickers getting hurt is uncommon, but I've been following this sport for 20 years and honestly can't recall another situation where teams had to dropkick the ball due to lack of a kicker. Seems to imply to me that other teams either have punters other players who might not be good enough to kick a 40 yard FG but can at least try an extra point cause otherwise you'd see it more.

 

I don't see a whole lot of difference between Dak and Blaine Gabbert except that Dak can occasionally keep the ball and get a first down with his legs.
