They picked outside the top 5 last year because of Jimmy G. They cost themselves the #1 pick by beating the Rams late in 2016. They cost themselves a top 5 pick in 2015 by beating the Rams in Week 17.

Holy shit, that 49ers 2017 trade is epic.

They trade Trubisky and the pick that became Kamara to get Jimmy G, Solomon Thomas, and Reuben Foster...functionally. All because they beat the Rams in a game that didnt matter.

edit: and as usual, the Pats win the trade. They turn that Jimmy G pick, trade it 19,000 times, and it becomes their starting LT, a 2018 late rounder and a 2nd and 3rd in 2019.
