great teams find a way to win close games; good to okay teams do not — this is often the difference between a championship team and a good team that gets ousted in the playoffs or a contender and a team that just misses the playoffs

winning a large proportion of close games is not a particularly good predictor of future performance in close games and there’s a large sample of teams’ records in one possession games from season to season showing that this is up there with turnover margin as the largest indicators of factors that tend to regress to the mean over time

 

If you’re inside your own 10 yard line there is no reason not to try to get away with a hold lol
