Well #1 Travis Hunter is clearly better as a corner and I’ve been correct about that since day 1. The first PLAY they put him on defense yesterday he cleanly broke up a great pass to Davante Adams. Calling him the heisman winning receiver is misleading - he won the Heisman for being effective both ways and he would not have gone in the top 5 or even top 20 if he was JUST a receiver.

#2 you can’t just talk about BTJ bursting onto the scene last year like it’s a static truth. Things change year by year, sophomore slumps happen, right now we are getting the BTJ I was pissed at us for drafting and he’s not performing even CLOSE to last year

in that narrative’s defense, era #1 of Tom Brady’s career was that of a system QB propped up by one of the best collections of defense talent I’ve seen since following football

he just happened to have two separate Hall of Fame level career stretches after that where narrative was no longer anywhere close to true

 

Goalposts are exactly what they’ve always been. We haven’t given him a baseline decent offense yet lmao. Thats all I’m asking for. As I told Dave he’s never had two of these things at the same time - decent line, decent WR, decent RB. When Etienne was playing well our pass blocking and receivers sucked. When we improved our WRs last year Etienne sucked. When we finally added a line and got Etienne back on track the WRs fell off and the line suddenly sucks again now after two straight games of constantly allowing pressures.

This year we should have a competent offense on paper but BTJ’s ASS performance and the OL collapsing the last two weeks tells a VERY different story

 

Start a guy off with a competent team that shows him what winning football looks like and then he’ll have the foundation to BECOME a QB who elevates future offenses he’s in? 99% of QBs don’t simply enter the league with the knowledge of how to win in the NFL and need help from reliable veterans and competent coaches to know the difference? Novel concept!
