Yes, it is due to my privilege as a Boston sports fan that I can achieve a higher plane of understanding and simply "don't be a jerk to people because your sportsmen didn't throw a ball so good"

I mean I’m not commenting on any of the things you just referenced, but sports fandom isn’t just about following a team that’s good. It’s just interesting that the response is “pick a different team.” That’s not how this stuff works in my eyes. I stick with a team because I’ve spent my life following them (whether through discovery or connection with family/friends) and going through the ups and downs. Makes it worth it when the good thing happens. I wouldn’t trade how I felt after years of waiting for the Mavs and Rangers to finally win the big one.

 

Yeah but I’m saying like. You don’t have to do that lol it’s entertainment. Your fandom does not affect the outcome. Change the channel!

 

Anyways I was just trying to give yall shit because whether you both like it or not, yall have an embarrassment of riches in regards to championships from the teams I’m aware yall follow.

 

I think the point was more "if following a bad team and them continuing to be bad is ruining your day or negatively impacting your mood, maybe don't do that."
