That’s what makes this so infuriating.

it couldn’t POSSIBLY be the organization hindering his development. It couldn’t possibly be replacing one of the best OC’s in football with the equivalent of my son’s dirty diaper. It has to be Mac’s fault. Somehow he controls the play of the offensive line, the desperation WRs get, and the drafting of Isaiah Wynn.

 

That’s what makes the fans Zappe fever so infuriating to me. It’s refusing to acknowledge that there are significant problems up and down the organization and just begging for it to be a quick bandaid fix.

if it could just all be Mac’s fault than bill would still be a genius and weeeee we’re still a dynasty and everything is right and normal still.

It is my first time. I’m 33. I barely remember the pre-Brady era. And that’s kinda my point. Shit is DIFFERENT now and I seem to be the only person in this entire region who is acknowledging that lol

 

If mac is any good though he’ll be able to come back from getting yanked. I get he probably sucks either way but if the last 3 weeks have ruined his career he was never gonna be the guy.

Im much more upset about the dogshit defensive performance than how the team handled the QB situation. Got their asses beat by probably the worst offensive roster in the league.

 

It’s more about telling a rookie QB “you’re our guy, we believe in you.” Him having success, and then yanking away a lot of what helped him succeed and telling the world on national TV “you’re not our guy, we don’t believe in you.”

I mean, for god sake outside of the disaster in the coaches room, they straight up benched his only dynamic weapon over a petty argument during spring training.

 

The kinda whiplash going from outperforming your entire rookie class to having three bad weeks and entire region turning on you is astounding.

So did Bill just remove Mac and keep Zappe in the whole time to prove a point to everyone or something? Like, hey, let me keep this guy in long enough and I'll show you that he actually sucks and you'll never chant his name again.

 

I’m a glass half full Patriots fan so nothing I say should be taken seriously on the topic, but I just think the dicking around with Mac’s confidence angle is overblown tonight (not just you Dave for sure). He got the start while probably not 100% ankle-wise over Zappe. That’s not meaningless. He got pulled because he clearly didn’t have it tonight. I don’t disagree it was a tough spot to put him in with the fans, but from a Belichick standpoint I don’t look at it that differently than a starting pitcher getting pulled in the 2nd after getting shelled early. Good ones go out 5 days later and pitch fine. It was clear after the pick that anyone but Mac Jones was going to give them the best chance to win tonight, it doesn’t have to mean the team is done w him forever.

Def looks like they’re in QB hell for the foreseeable but they might as well spend the rest of the season figuring out if there’s any salvaging Mac.

Zappe didn’t know Mac was starting until game time. He didn’t know how long he was playing for. The entire thing was a circus. If this was anyone but Bill he’d be fired before he got to the locker room.

 

I feel more down on the season and long term QB outlook than I have at any point in a while but I still mostly trust Belichick with steering the ship. I thought the defense was good before tonight, I’m more shook by that than anything else in 100% seriousness. They’ll figure QB out or they won’t but the long view isn’t turning because of this game as much as sports radio is going to say otherwise.

I more-so meant the entire circus that occurred tonight. But your first team offense not knowing who will be playing QB is pretty rough.

 

Obviously I knew the Zappe experience was only gonna go so far, he won against bad defenses. it was a fun little 3 week thing that gave more spark into this team than the last like 2 seasons haha, I think that’s why fans were excited, but they deep down knew he would turn back into a pumpkin.

However, both looked terrible tonight against the bears and this whole QB carousel is NOT the way you build it. Zappe not knowing he was gonna play and this whole “both are gonna play 2nd half” is dumb. Start Mac going forward and see what the hell you have.

 

For those who hoped a night sleep would calm me down about the circus we all witnessed last night…

I got 2 hours sleep, and peed on by a baby. Fuck you, Bill.
