Yeah but I’m making a distinction between that and plays the RB is reading while already sprinting because he has more open field space to work with
Generally you want faster smaller backs to run outside more often than bigger power backs, don’t think I’m saying anything wild here
Yeah I’ve just never heard anyone make a distinction between a “run” and a speed run.” Just sounds like you’re trying to describe patience and vision in order to create big plays. Like, yeah, RBs can haul ass when they have more open space to work with because that’s the expectation. If it’s a run to the outside or a toss play, they don’t really have time to be patient. They gotta go and hit the open space if it’s there because the linemen and receivers/tight ends are pulling to block for them.
Hall of Famer Mike Anderson man that run of RBs that Denver went through with random ass dudes becoming fantasy stars for a season or two was crazy. Iirc the guy before Mike Anderson was Orlandis Gary?
It’s not like an official term but there are some running concepts that work better with more elusive runningbacks? I’m not understanding the loss in translation I feel like I’m saying something very simple
Like running Derrick Henry outside zone doesn’t really make sense with his skillset while Etienne is very good at it cause his lateral agility allows him to hit more holes before they close
