Chiefs and Bengals twitter spent so much of the offseason going back and forth only for both of them to end up worse off than they were before lol poetic

 

The Jawaan penalties are getting all of the attention but I feel like he’s actually playing very well

 

The problem is he's always been penalty prone and also is a mediocre run blocker. Pass protection wise he's great so it's whatever unless you have a rare night like tonight where Mahomes for some reason is human again

 

He could also stop fouling

 

I did intramural flag football reffing at UF, does that count

The facemask started outside the endzone. Like is shown in the picture..it's not where Mahomes is.

 

Some calls are good, some calls are bad.

 

I’m genuinely so jealous of where the Texans are right now vs the Pats

 

They said something like the pull on the face mask starts inside the end zone, which is why they called it a safety

He's not pulling it until they're in the end zone.

 

Not to cape for the chiefs or anything but this angle to me pretty clearly shows the facemask began at the 1 yard line.

It’s not about Mahomes being in the end zone when the facemask starts. It’s about where the actual foul took place, which was right before the defender crossed the goal line.

 

Touching the facemask is a facemask, or at least illegal hands to the face. You don’t have to pull.

The “pull” distinction only applies to ball carriers - you can stiff arm a dude in the facemask but you can’t grab the facemask and push or pull. However for non-ball carriers you’re technically not even allowed to touch it

Touching it is incidental contact. You can grasp it but you must immediately release and can't control the facemask
