They overachieved last year to a crazy extreme. At least they have the Bucs and Saints as a cushion before losing to Arizona.
I don't think it's called "over achieving". I think a better term for it is team chemistry. A shut down corner is crucial to team chemistry. Because without one then you almost always have to devote extra defenders to stopping the opposing WR1, and you cant be as aggressive or watch the run as much. That is what I have noticed from the Panthers season so far. Their complete control of games last year started and ended with their stifling defense. You wouldn't imagine the Seahawks being that dominant on defense without Richard Sherman for example.
It's definitely still overachieving. One loss from that roster is over achieving, no way around that haha.
