Packers are fine. They already won 2 division games and they haven’t played the Lions. They’re in great shape.
He came flying in 1000mph to make the hit, and the WR ducked...so, not completely his fault, but if he was under control at all he doesnt murder his own guy. Also, he should know his CB is gonna be there on the outside
Honestly, im not sure he thought Jimmy Graham was gonna keep going? He basically throws a hit that can only either: a. Destroy Jimmy Graham in his head area, giving the Packers 15 more yards. b. Murder his own teammate
Makes you wonder if hits like that should get a penalty even if you hit one of your own players. The goal of penalizing stuff like that is player safety, right? Player safety is still at risk even when its friendly fire. The idea that a player could have to choose to between hurting a teammate and giving the other team extra yardage is a scary one. Or you know, ban the whole sport because there is really no way to truly prevent hits like that and our entertainment isn't worth these guys livelihoods.
Agreed but it’s already a thing; adjusted completion percentage usually comes out 3 or so days after the game.
I also don't think a QB shouldn't be credited for INT if the WR should have caught the ball when it deflects right off his hands
I think the QB should take statisical blame for both things -If they don't want the incompletion they can cross the LOS or take a sack, defensive pressure should be rewarded with forcing an incompletion and taking that award away is more misleading than hitting the QB's completion percentage -If they lead the WR better they can help prevent the deflection from resulting in a pick PFF and like sources can make the adjustments they need for whatever other metrics they want for deeper evaluation, QBs can take the hit in the basic statistics
I agree with this one as well, but it gets tough differentiating if a ball was dropped/tipped because of the receiver or if it was a bad or slightly badly thrown ball. If anything, provide adjusted numbers when the INT is clearly a 100% well thrown ball
It makes me think of statistical variance between fumbles and fumbles lost. I don’t really care how many were lost because it’s so random and the bounce of the ball is just impossible to predict, but every fumble is putting the ball on the ground. That’s what I care about and use whenever I look at stats.
I think it's fine to look at things in the "I don't count X against the QB cuz Y" way when it comes to looking at more advanced stats but I think that's why we already have those advanced stats and I'm fine with completion % and INTs as they are I do think shovel passes should count as runs but there's no way to enforce that so fuck it that is a hill I will NEVER die on, opens a whole other can of worms
