what is it with the colts thinking they don't need to support the qb so much? like who is responsible for years of this? I'm not even a fan and its frustrating lol

 

What do you mean? Their old GM was all about supporting the QB. All of their first round picks in the Grigson era were on offensive players, and he was huge on signing/trading for weapons for the offense (Frank Gore, Trent Richardson, Andre Johnson, Hakeem Nicks, etc.)

Edit: I forgot about Bjorn Werner, who was bad enough that he doesn't really count as a defensive draft pick

 

Perhaps I'm from behind or maybe its just picks that didn't work (and to be fair none of those names at the point of their signing were game changers, outside Gore, hes been alright). I just think it's clear since Peyton through to Luck that position been asked for more than most and I guess I just don't understand how that's been a consistent, granted them being both seen as next tier in their respective generations (Luck and Peyton that is).

Down to the defensive struggles of past and the O Line, I'm not on to pick apart another team as a Giants fan, we have our own holes I hate to continue to see (open passes in the middle, no run game). Just a curiosity.

 

Yeah, I gotcha. With the 2000s Colts, it was just a matter of strategy. They knew they had an all time great at QB who had to play like an all time great to have a chance at winning, so they made sure he had a consistent cast of Hall of Fame caliber receivers, and built the defense around rushing the passer and keeping a lead. Contrast that with the Patriots, who built those crazy defenses and told Tom Brady to do enough to win with whichever weapons they could get for him that year.

I think the 10s Colts tried to replicate what the 00s Colts did, but it was executed so poorly that they got Andrew Luck an elite receiver in TY Hilton (and a bunch of lesser weapons that didn't pan out), but they also broke Luck and the rest of the roster is garbage.

 

Lol yeah. 2nd yeah undeafted free agent picked up by the falcons and released last year.

 

That seems to be the key part. A 2nd and 3rd rounder in 2012 on TE's who never became worthy of that high a pick. A 1st rounder on Trent Richardson. A 1st rounder on Dorsett. Hard to say which way Moncrief will ultimately go...

They've actually had enough O-line picks that hit (Mewhort, Kelly, Castonzo) to put up a serviceable line, but, in a weird way having a QB like Luck exacerbates their problem. In 2012-13, they needed to go 4-12 again. Last year they needed to go 5-11. Each time, they drafted 15 spots later because Luck edged out wins...meaning in 2013 they couldnt get an elite D-lineman. This past year, they couldnt get an elite RB. In 2016, probably an elite DB.

Yeah, Sean McDermott is getting coach of the year if Andy Reid doesn't. They've already gotten more wins through four weeks than some people had them getting all year.

 

We could easily be 4-0 if Zay holds on to that catch, or Tyrod throws a slightly better ball. All I wanted to see this year(I was expecting a 6-10 season) was just for the atmosphere to have changed in Buffalo. I've gotten that and so much more. Playoffs or not this year, this is still the most fun I've had watching the Bills in quite some time

 

I have yet to see the Bills play this year. But I'm happy to see the Bills and Rams both at 3-1. Even happier that the AFC South is just as bad as they were last year but they've added in being incredibly good at the same time lol. So now it's just "do you get a bad team or are you losing by 40 today?" It's great haha.

 

I always like seeing underdogs do well. It's always nicer when your team is included!

I wish the Texans could've held on @New England. NE should be 1-3 and 0-3 at home!

 

I have definitely become one, I've been happy about him but it's starting to feel like it's not just fluke after fluke

How poetic is it that a week after I complain about this we finally come out and have a statement game
