Do you all really think Jason has some super big conspiracy going on so you have to click on an ad? Lmao

 

It’s not a conspiracy it’s literally how online ads work. They write interruptions in JavaScript that intercept the normal JavaScript subroutine with things that pop up or pause / manipulate the website’s functionality. And it would not be acting like that on this website if Jason did not write the code in a way to enable it. It’s how online content providers make money unfortunately.

So fine, if you’re literally gonna have it momentarily remove the keyboard within the first 3 seconds of me typing a post (which, yes, you can actually code it to have a 3 second delay and then be triggered by the user interacting with the website) then I guess you’ve kinda coerced me to spend $3 a month just to use this website normally… so I don’t end up inadvertently opening hundreds of tabs of ads in one football Sunday of posting.

 

Well I’ve had a couple other users corroborate that it happens if you’re not a “supporter” and instead allow very invasive ads

You also don’t really post that often from mobile, I mostly see you on this site when your computer is up. They can’t put an ad in front of a physical keyboard haha

 

I think what I’m disagreeing with isn’t so much “the ad code is causing this behavior” as much as it is “Jason purposefully coded this behavior with the very specific intention of driving me crazy enough to give him $5.”

As opposed to just like “shit happens with code and glitches exist?” Lol

the fact is when you authorize ads on a website, you authorize what they are and aren’t allowed to do to manipulate your website. These ads have done this for quite awhile as well. He very intentionally has allowed ad companies to program EventListeners that create an unexpected response when you start typing. The more annoying the ads are the more he can convince people to be monthly subscribers. And that is not a rare thing, like, are you guys not on the same internet everyone else is on? This is what a LOT of websites do for a profit model.
