Lamar please get your shit together, you have literally the most annoying critics in the football world you cannot do this.
What the FUCK. i know Brady wasn’t really Brady until his late 20’s maybe even early 30’s but what the fuck. He’s 44 not like he’s 49. If anything, this makes me wonder how many conversations tv shows had wondering if Bill should bench Brady lmao. Yeah they were winning but if he has almost as many TD passes from 40-44 than 20-29 then… that’s not good for the 20-29 years lol (knowing Brady didn’t start as a 20 year old either so it’s not exactly 10 years vs 5 years but still)
It’s funny because it’s like, “wow, part of this has to be his diet and exercise regimen” and yet when I look at what he eats (or more like what he doesn’t eat) I just think, “nah that’s alright, my life isn’t that important that I need to be awesome at anything in my 40’s” (or now) and continue doing what I’m doing even though there’s a super human mutant proving that with determination and persistence (and yes, millions for god knows what weird behind the scenes stuff he does) being amazing at an “old” age is possible lol
It’s crazy until we see literally anyone else come close to doing what he’s doing lol. Maybe in 20 years there will be 15-20 other QB’s who play at an incredible level into their 40’s but until then it absolutely is crazy.
its absolutely crazy. He’s fucking 44 and showing no signs of slowing down. And I say this as someone that absolutely hates him.
I mean yes, obviously it's crazy that Brady is amazing in his 40s. I just meant it's not crazy that his 20s weren't that productive relatively.
there will never be enough good offensive line play in the nfl for 40 something year old qbs playing to ever be normal lol
Also, Manning retired at what, 40? Brees was looking mighty tired at 41. Favre at 40. Ben has been in the "please retire" stage for three years. Only old guy I can think of is George Blanda and Brady has more TDs in two games than Blanda did in his last five years.
I think the only thing that could really impact that would be rule changes / penalties called on hitting the QB. But idk how much that takes off of someone’s ability / talent as the years go on. On one hand - Steve Young / Aikman had to retire due to concussions. So who knows how long they would have played but no guarantee their skills wouldn’t fall off like literally every other QB and no guarantee that the concussions they got would have been plays that would have resulted in penalties, so for the most part I agree with your post.
I also wonder if QB’s starting younger and younger will also impact longevity. I guess it evens out that QB’s used to play 4 college years then maybe sit a year and then play pro vs playing 3 years in college and then immediately starting in the pros but like, if Herbert continues to throw 70000000 times a year idk if you can do that into your 40’s vs Brady who threw it like 250 times a year for a decade before really opening it up.
Also, he's stacked up 4 straight 4+ TD games in a row in the regular season; one more and he ties Peyton's record at 5. Tom Brady already has more TDs than Cam Newton did as a starter ALL LAST SEASON, and is tied with what Sam Darnold put up in 2020. After next week, he'll almost certainly have surpassed Daniel Jones' 2020 season
I think this is fair, though Steve Young ran too much to play into his 40s. Tom Brady being a statue like Peyton certainly helps his longevity. But also, having a good o-line really does feel like everything. Tom Brady has ~500 career sacks. Matt Stafford is at 386 sacks, and he wasnt drafted until Tom Brady was a decade into his career. Almost exactly half the games, yet 80% the sacks. Big Ben and Brady are tied in sacks, while Big Ben has 70 fewer games played...
idk they would have to straight up outlaw tackling the qb at all for that to change. theres a reason the oldest players are always kickers/punters and then qbs. they get hit the least.
I just cant stop laughing at the thought of Big Ben playing 5 more years...like, literally at all...let alone 5 years from now putting up 4 and 5 TD games
