There's a research article to be written about how bad offensive line play is in the NFL right now. Feels like half of the league has had a problem developing offensive linemen the 5-6 years. Makes for some dreadful games.

Do y'all think the restrictions on practice in training camp due to the CBA has damaged the quality of games? I know the players really wanted less wear on their bodies and rightfully so, but you've got to think they're also hurting the product on the field

Part of the reason OL are struggling more often is because of the athletes we're seeing at DE now. It's like one position has evolved while the other stayed the same.

 

I laughed soooo much at Bodine getting demolished by Watt there on the desperation play on the end.

College offense styles don't help much either in terms of great prospects arriving

 

We're seeing the best big/jumbo athletes moved to the defensive line because they are more versatile for programs on the defensive side of the football.

The spread offense allows for teams (especially high school) to play smaller, less talented kids on the offensive line. The position group is suffering overall because the more talented big men are playing defense.

 

Joking lol. I'm a Ravens fan so I like busting it out every once in a while even if I know its not true

 

i'd say Wisconsin is probably the best of a very, very short list. not even sure who else even runs the pro-style / run heavy type offense they do.

 

i think for the defensive line evolving is that there's more room to work with vs offensive line.

i feel like for offensive line you have to fit in a very narrow window for height, weight / size, arm length and foot movement / quickness, whereas on the defensive line if you're short but fast and strong you can still make it or be beneficial or at least used in certain packages.
