Tannehill must not be as shit as people claim. Clearly the back ups are much worse

I mean Dobbs did relatively well for 3 and a half quarters haha

Willis is just straight up not ready, he played a lower level of competition in college where he could dance around and do crazy shit and that of course did NOT WORK in his first couple game appearances

but Dobbs is pretty impressive for never having started a GAME before week 17

I just think the Titans are not built to throw the ball downfield when they need to; and the modern NFL is pretty hard to win that way.

it’s been awhile since they’ve even tried to find a QB who is good at being aggressive. Tannehill and Mariota are guys who can be very efficient underneath and very good at maximizing yards after catch, but they’re also guys you want throwing deep as little as possible… and that’s pretty much been the Titans brand. They like to try to catch defenses out of position laterally more so than vertically, which puts all the emphasis on eating up clock / keeping Henry in favorable down and distance situations to run the ball - but none of the emphasis on scoring quickly when needed. Teams that can’t stop Henry get owned by this and their defenses get worn out while their offenses hardly see the field… but it’s a different ballgame if you can slow him down.

Tannehill has been one of the best deep ball throwers (accuracy wise) throughout his career. I am not sure you're correct here.

    counterpoint:

he is successful completion percentage wise in Tennessee because most of his deep passes come off play actions designed to fake the ball to the league’s #1 runningback. He’s essentially throwing easy floaters to wide open guys, when the defense sells out to stop Henry, in an offense that never throws deep otherwise. Because of Henry and their willingness to literally run the ball 35-40 times a game, they face a lot of 8 man boxes… so the 8% of times Tannehill is throwing deep-ish, 6% or so is play action calls against defensive fronts that have only one deep safety.

It is far harder to throw deep passes when the opponent at least partially expects it, (which is why I’m so high on Mahomes cause he literally throws deep so often and teams still can’t call plays that stop it). The Titans do not do that to win and are never good at doing that when they have to come from behind. They’d literally rather keep running with Henry while trailing in the fourth, and allow the clock to work against them… than throw deep.

In Miami, you are a fan who watched him a lot so maybe you have seen more and you disagree, but I remember him being a notoriously bad underthrower who could not connect with Mike Wallace and Kenny Stills.
