I literally started crying reading this tweet out to my wife. Call it off. Forfeit. Reschedule. I don’t care. We’re watching HGTV for the rest of the night.

Morgan I’m glad once again for your perspective. That’s true, never would’ve noticed that wouldn’t happen if things had already turned for the worst.

If it sounded like I was for them continuing or trying to lessen the severity of this, I wasn’t. Just was sharing something that was hopefully a positive sign for his condition.

Ugh that’s scary, glad hopefully you’re good now. I was born with Tetralogy of Fallot (aka a hole in my heart) which I guess is fairly common. They repaired it when I was like 6 months and I had to have a follow up valve replacement 10 years ago. I guess just yearly checkups and occasional valve replacements every 10-25 years is the maintenance, which is not bad since it has no physical impact on me.

But because of it, always always sensitive to anything heart related. Not knowing at all what happened tonight I just hope he’s okay.

No way the players will go back out there and play this game tonight. Seeing your teammate down getting CPR in a literal life/death situation has to be affecting those players so much right now

Hopefully a good sign that they think they can wait to get to him to a hospital asap

I could see some players wanting to play to at least “fill the time” because there’s nothing they can do to help in this situation so them showering and just checking their phones for updates from teammates and coaches or whatnot would drive a lot crazy (including me, any time a family member has been in a health situation I want to stay busy even though I’m not mentally there) but since it’s a sport as physical as football, NOT being 100% there could cause additional injuries so I hope the teams say they’re not doing this tonight.

Watching the Tua thing took 100% of my enthusiasm as a sports fan right the hell out of that game, this just makes me question the whole sport

can’t imagine the league would force them to continuing playing. Would be such a black eye for the league. Won’t hurt their revenue of course but that might be as close to drawing the line for a lot of people as you can get if you force the teams back out there. If the teams say no, there’s no game.

Not a medical professional but guessing the hit he took to the chest knocked him into arrhythmia. I'm sick to my stomach still. Rivals the Kevin Everett injury in how much I wanted to throw up

My emotion wasn’t directed at you, and sorry it came off that way. I appreciate the positivity.

oh man I remember that as a kid. My parents were stunned and I was wondering what the hell was going on. First real scary sports injury I remember seeing.

As scary as it is, thank goodness mom was there to watching her son play and accompany him to the hospital

Yeah I can't imagine being whoever is in his family watching that at home and not being able to be there. Fuck me.

I just lost control of my emotions for a few minutes, couldn't hold it in anymore. I think the combo of the heart thing and having played football growing up and sat through so many injuries to other guys and knowing how...fucked up it is to be sitting there waiting while someone lies motionless on the ground or is yelling/screaming in pain, this just...hit very close to home. I feel so bad for him, and for all his teammates, and for the Bengals, especially whoever it was that delivered the hit...that's got to be an awful feeling.

I didn’t play sports for long growing up but knew people who played through high school and division 3 college for some sports and even by high school seeing injuries was “just part of the process” that sometimes happened. Of course, seeing someone get CPR has gotta be something you never expect to see.

and I didn’t see the hit that came before it but it sounds like it wasn’t a massive, jaw dropping hit so I feel like players have gotta also be freaking out that this wasn’t caused by some huge mammoth hit that they may try and think “that would never happen to me” this was a ‘normal’ play that everyone can and would experience and then to have this result. Just can’t imagine all the thoughts of the players let alone those on defense who were closer to him than others.

I was 16 or 17 when it happened. I remember it in my head clear as day. I remember seeing it, then the replay and looking at my then gf and saying "oh my god that's so bad I think he's paralyzed."

The only silver lining of this tonight is that his mom was there to watch this game and they were able to get her down into the ambulance before it left. The fact they didn't have to race off without her is hopefully encouraging
