Defense wishlist:
- new DC; Ballard seems to like SF a lot, and Steichen has gushed about BAL’s defense, so someone from one of those trees makes sense if they don’t fully tear it down
- a safety who is actually good as a single high safety if they’re gonna have a DC who uses this extensively; I don’t think Chris Ballard has done this in his entire tenure and Blackmon and Cross are both better close to the line
- Shaq Leonard replacement; EJ Speed is very much not that
- a LB who isn’t a liability in coverage; they haven’t had that since maybe Bobby Okereke
- heavy defensive draft; besides Latu and JuJu Brents, they’ve pretty much ignored defense early for the past 3 years
