You know it's weird the only other NFC teams I can root for is whoever plays Dallas and probably Detroit because I Stafford and Tampa because I love watching a good young team.
That'd kinda where I'm at with GB. I love watching Rodgers play, as well as Nelson. It comically frustrates my dad since he's a Vikings fan. It's an interesting dynamic in my household. I'm just waiting for my brother and sister to come out as Lions and Bears fans now haha
When I was a Cowboys fan I'd always have heavy support for second teams and the more time I've spent as a Texans fan, the less I've really rooted for anyone else.
The way I grew up no one in my family outside my Grandpa really liked any sort of sports (outside of wrestling) and he watched for players/"and the sake of the game." I use to just follow his lead cus one team for example he ALWAYS stuck with was the New York Mets so I did too, he even gave me his 1969 world series championship mug to seal that deal lol. Giants stuck with me cus of playing on a team called em as a kid (my friend played for the Jets and was a dickhead about it lol), NY thing, and my Mom's cousin owned a car dealership with a former player and when they opened up all the Giants were there to support and I got to meet em all lol. The Redskins thing is fully a playful support/rivalry with my girl & in-laws and since I'm always there and MD is Redskins'd out. If I can't have it my way I'd be happy to see them get theirs type thing. I never was a vitriolic sports fan for other teams anyway, aside from the entitled, douchey "Look at my rings" (your rings?) Yankees fans lol.
I've been a life long Vikings fan because I grew up in a Vikings household so my NFC team has always been set. But I always felt like I could have a AFC team too, used to be the Ravens, but Flacco is boring and I fell in love with Nashville a few years back. Got the Titans as a solid number 2 which is starting to pay off this year!
I use to think this way too and it was somewhat easy playing the "I'm from NY so I root for the NY teams" card as a kid. But the Jets are a headache (and ruined a football card my dad let me play back in the day they went 1-15 lmao) . Ever since then I really haven't had a secondary team till that whole "Well if my Giants can't be in there I'd be happy to let see my girl's Skins' prosper" (And support that) I alluded too. I don't think I'll ever pick up an AFC team, but as I get older and people die I find sports has become a bond to people I lost and if my Pops dies I might pick up the Colts as a "They ain't mine, but I wish em the best" type club, cus they were his team. Sorry to be a your half-assed rival, haha.
Haha I'm kind of a halfass fan with the Titans, so I guess it'd be like quarter-ass rival? Been paying a lot more attention the past two years though, they've been televised a lot more here in Oregon thanks to Mariota.
I was saying on here the other day that until they got Mariota they were like the forgotten franchise for me lol. I like Mariota and I'm always glad for teams whos fanbases have long suffered finally getting something to root for.... I'm a Mets fan in baseball, I know how that goes lol. That makes sense they'd be aired more in Oregon, didn't that happen with the Jets on the west coast a bit when Sanchez was on em since he was from USC? Well... before Sanchez become notorious for being Sanchez lmao.
I don't really remember when Sanchez was promising, but ever since Barkley took over The Bears have been televised every week. Probably a coincidence but still interesting.
The first two years he was with they Jets when they went to the AFC Championship back to back he wasn't the greatest in the regular season but he was fairly decent in the playoffs oddly enough. I remember there being like a "Jets west" thing. I don't know if they were played on TV or not though considering I'm from the east coast but I do remember there being a lot of support for them coming out of the west coast. Maybe that Matt Barkley thing is in the same vein, ha.
"Petty having a tough time learning to fly"....the announcers are gonna have a field day with this game
