Offensively yeah we are more talented. Decker being out is tough though, offense doesn’t look as dominant when he’s out

defensively probably equal given the insane amount of injuries. We don’t have a d line right now so Love will have all day to throw. Outside of Smith it’s gonna be a bunch of nobodies on that line.

If it helps at all, I won’t hate it NEARLY as much this time around as I did the last two times ya’ll used a first on a RB.

I expect this kinda response but tbh this team needs to get back to basics with a real rushing attack. Etienne and Bigsby ain't it. It's about time to re-set that RB clock and continue not paying one more than rookie-contract money. Could we do it with a bargain 3rd rounder again, sure, but we could also get a playmaker that would change this offense immediately.

Jags do have a history of reaching for RBs but in this case 1) it wouldn't be a reach, SOMEONE is taking him top 10 2) I also have memories of both Fred Taylor and then MJD making offenses with subpar QBs look good, and Trevor is better than Brunell, Leftwich, or Garrard.

 

for such a bad team we actually do not have that many needs in comparison. There's teams that are bad because they are rebuilding like the Patriots, and then there's teams with talent who gave up on their failing coach like the Jags that simply need a spark. A good coach and a RB who's a threat for a big play and/or a 100-yard game every week would make a huge difference even with our existing roster.

 

the Jags have a lot of needs, man. Teams don't potentially pick #1 overall just because they gave up on their coach. The roster is severely flawed.

 

I agree with you both. The Jags have needs, but they’re not barren like a Patriots/Giants/Raiders. I think if they trade down and collect extra assets to attack those needs, they can play around with AJ.

I just do not think picking a RB in the top 5-10 is the answer in that scenario.

 

I think there are very few teams I’d support taking AJ, but the Jags are on that list for me.

 

ive seen the Jags be this bad a lot of times for a lot of different reasons in my life, I genuinely think this is the best roster that ever won so few games lol

take that how you will, but the answer for us clearly isn't "blow it all up and start over" right now. it's "coaching change and add as many talented players with swag/confidence as possible".

 

on both offense and defense a LOT of our issues are scheme related. This defense is better than this too but Nielsen's defensive playcalling is very over aggressive and leaves them exposed constantly.

 

Also let’s just assume best case scenario, Jags get Ben Johnson. Now it’s truly game on on just loading that offense up with weapons and have fun lol

 

and on the flip side, not to take any credit away from Ben Johnson, but a lot of the reason his offense has been THIS successful is how much it's able to rely on the running game. Jahmyr Gibbs is heading towards "elite" and Montgomery is solidly at the top of tier 2 for RBs. They combine for like 200 yards a game. If we hired Johnson I honestly wouldn't wanna risk him not being as good with an average to below average running game.

 

granted, the Lions also have a better offensive line than we do and it's not really close. But we're heading in the right direction, Anton Harrison is looking like a good long-term starter and I like Walker Little's potential to improve on Cam Robinson now that we're finally giving him continuity at his most comfortable position, he has looked very good in spurts despite having an off game here and there. We just need to keep working at our IOL, Mitch Morse Ezra Cleveland and Brandon Scherff all feel like band-aids at this point, just whoever we could find that doesn't suck too much to start in games lol

 

Ah yes a RB will fix the Jags! See you in the superbowl next year.
