I missed this play but the Jags had an interception EXACTLY like this last week that got ruled incomplete

his hands stayed under it as he hit the ground, the ball shifted but never left his hands and never actually touched the ground. Ruled incomplete.

 

We still barely won but I’m pissed they took an INT away from Andre Cisco, who is actually having an excellent season and not getting recognition for it yet.

Cisco has intercepted Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, and Lamar Jackson this season. (And Matt Ryan but that’s less impressive lol.) He was a ballhawk in college and he’s showing he can do that in the NFL. He fell to round 4 because he wasn’t in a power college program (played at Syracuse) and tore his ACL, but he had 8 INTs his junior year and I’m super excited to see that translate - just wish he was properly credited with 4 INTs so far this year, not 3

 

The refs are my least favorite team for sure

 

Oh wait I did see that play, nevermind. It was the Jordan Poyer interception. Yeah that shit was a CATCH

I love that when I talk about games from the 90s and early 00s no one bats an eye, they're just like "yeah, most Jags fans I'd call bullshit, but Randall? That dude has been ALL ABOUT THE JAGS forever, I believe it"

 

*my family did have season tickets when I was growing up, so there's that. I lived in JAX for two separate 5-year stints as a kid.

It was great for the first couple years lol. They went 45-19 from 1996-1999, made the playoffs all 4 years including two AFC Championship games

I was a kid I didn't care lmfao. I had friends to skateboard and play guitar with and have pool parties at their parents' houses. We had a mall with a great 24-theatre cinema and a pretty excellent arcade. I went to summer camps almost every year and got to do all kinds of beach and waterpark shit. Florida's great when you're a child

no but i get it hahahaha. I 100% learned first hand why Jacksonville FL sucks when I moved back as an adult

I mean I got what I wanted - cheap rent on a house ($900 a month for 4 bedrooms lol), ability to practice drums and bass as much as I want for a couple years (I can play both pretty decently now), ability to afford to go on tour and promote shows on my limited restaurant server income, ability to become a popular local musician very quickly in a smaller major city that does have an active scene

but I also got plenty of, "oh shit people / society in FL are toxic as HELL"

 

When we moved to Oklahoma City (from a much smaller town where there was no social scene) I was like oh yeah I’ll go out more, check out some open mics, go to more local shows, and instead I just go to the movies more often I guess?

 

Most people our age genuinely start caring less about local music because it's admittedly a fairly uncomfortable experience going to standing room only shows, on weekdays, at hole in the wall bars you wouldn't drink at normally lol. Like, that's fun when you're 22, but when you're 34 there's a 60% chance the show will start later than you expected, and you'll get cranky cause your ankles / back hurt, and you'll want to go home by the middle of the second band lol

It's definitely something I have to consider moving forward. There are the hardcore local music heads and local musicians like me who are still hustling hard at 30/40/50/even 60, but, I gotta figure out how to start from the ground-up again in Baltimore. I have to do it in a way that most my 30-something friends, whose lives are exhausted by families and careers and daily workouts and children, actually want to participate lol. That's part of why I started with a job that gives me weekend nights off lol cause that's when I gotta be booking my shows

 

I'd LOVE to sit down and talk to The National about all the ins and outs of pushing a serious band in your 30s lol. Apparently they were all like married software developers or something and started a band even though they were older than I am, and now look at them lol

like how did y'all promote to other tired 35 year olds? Where did you play that actually got people to show up en masse and feel comfortable? I gotta learn that shit

 

Yeah idk I’m 34 and ready to retire and not talk to anyone.
